Politician Archive

Currently all the voting booth offers is standings and the ability to vote for the listed polititians. This gives me very little info off of which to make a decision. I would like to suggest that each candidate be able to attach a text message to their entry into the race, so I could read about them and why they think they should be running the city.

Thats a good idea, but I would also think that for most cities you would know the people well enough who are running to already know what they would do for the city, or thier platform. Maybe when cities get to be very large this may not be the case, but I would think that most will not get to be this size for awhile.

I think DarkJediCorran has it right -- if the city is too large for all the inhabitants to pretty much know each other, then it is the obligation fo the politician to campaign, just like in the real world. Whether that campaigning is done in-game by spreading their platform by talking in the streets and sending out emails, or out of game via city forums or posts to constituent guild's forums, etc.

Would some in-game mechanic to facilitate this be welcome? Sure -- perhaps a bulletin board in the City Hall that citizens can pay to place small messages for a week, or something. This could also be used for announcements and advertising for merchants and craftsmen.
