Well I've been trying to solve this problem in-game through CSR tickets, but have not been successfull.

Location:

NewHope, Dantoine, Ahazi

Guild: <CoV>

Back Story:

Long story short, this guy "Brisbane" (alts are, tyrra, ninz, asro [jedi]) was a fairly active, high level member of our PA/City. He met a girl in game, and they decided to meet out of game, after which he began to stalk her. I mean STALK her. He claims to have been in that SEALs and claims to be one tough mo-fo, though I'm told he doesn't look the part (i.e. 300lbs and short).

The girl left guild w/o mentioning what happened to anyone high level what happened, probibly affraid since Brisbane was high level, and we were, at the time anyway, pretty friendly with him. One of us did eventually find out, and we let him have it, told him in no uncertain terms to leave the girl alone, I'm under the impression that he was threated with legal action... though I'm not sure (it wasn't me who threatened to call the cops).

Just about a week earlier to this coming out, he took ownership of the cantina (you can see where this is going) since he had 4 characters, and had volunteered, it seemed only logical. However, as a result of this whole thing, he banned the guild from the cantina (one by one) and left the city. Effectively hijacking the cities cantina...

We, me and brisbane and the rest of CoV worked very hard to organize the city, it was a metropolis when I took office, but a complete mess with no logic it would seem. The city square was completed maybe 2 weeks before this happened, and eveyone in the guild was happy. Now we have two cantina's on the city sqaure and the new one, the REAL one is the one that looks out of place...

Brisbane had something like 30 milion creds, and I'm almost possitive he's quit the game. I'm also almost possitive he's put all his money into the cantina.

CSR lack of help:

Well one problem with this is the guy who went head to head with bris also quit, along with the proof of harrassment in his mailbox (I was on vacation when this all went down).

But I have two questions,

one, you would think that CRS's would take the idea of a girl being stalked more seriously, I'm really surprised they don't take at least a brief look at this. More than the simple brush off responses I get to my tickets.

two, holding the cantina and banning the city who gave it to him IS griefing. That IS the proof, that IS griefing! I'm aware of all the definitions etc.. etc.. blah blah blah... He took the cantina with the sole purpose of anoying us in mind... that, to me anyway, IS griefing.

Anyone have any suggestions how I can get help on this? Anything I can do to keep him from maintaining the cantina or get it to poof quicker? Any ideas guys? And does anyone know a CSR I can give a /tell to? ( I knew one, but he quit)

Thanks guys!

you will get nowhere with CSRs. i had someone put a house in my city for the same purpose, griefing. you have 2 options that i know of:

1. contact the guy and get him to log in and remove it.

2. block the cantina off with houses, so that he cannot get in to pay maintenance. hope there is not 20 mill in the maintenance pool.

sorry i can't give you better news, i resolved the problem myself, and with the help of some guildies. CSRs refused to help in the situation, they would not even give me the name of the house owner. they actually asked me to stop sending tickets about the issue.

And remember option 2 is realgriefing and will get you in real trouble, ascalling the cantina issue griefing is a grey bending of the griefing rules. Search the forums here anytime someone has used the "block the griefer" grief the CSRs have come in and made it be removed. The rules are clear on this kind of thing, your rights as Mayor end at the front door of the player owned building, it does not matter that you or the city or whoever gave them the deed, as soon as s/he places it, your rights over it end, this is laid out in very clear terms. The CSRs will not do anything about it and that is really the right thing as the rights of the player out-weigh those that you think you have as a mayor of a city.

Yeah, this is basically what everyone has been saying to me.

But I'm wondering why this is not considered griefing, and why CS and DEV does not try to make the job of Mayor (or as I consider it, unpaid in-game, live CSR) a little easier. I mean the game play experience of player cities effects lots of players, I estimated it once at 500+ per week (including citizens and visitors). The easier it is to build and manage quality cities the better player cities will be, and the better the game experience will be for players.

I'm just sayin' we could use some help.

Thanks for the posts guys! I appreciate people listening to my problems

Hope all is well with your cities!

I have been a mayor from the day the patch went in and I have to say I have never felt like a "unpaid CSR" maybe its the fact we are still only rank 3 or the fact that I just will not put up with BS but I have to say looking at both sides, that there is not much more power they can give us that could (would) not be used to grief. As mayor we should not get special powers that can impact another player in a adverse way, because they pay their 15 a month just like I do. They had to be granted right to place a building, if they did it wrong or are no longer living up to their end of a dealthere is not much that can be done, that is the flaw in MMORPGs, I have worked support for a large one, I the one thing I learn was this concept is hard for people to understand...

you have to remember that cantinas and medical centers are strictly player owned...they use player lots rather than city lots. So no matter how he got ownership of the cantina, it's now offiicially his & can admit or ban whomever he chooses. Also, no online customer service department, that I know of, will comment on take action on an alleged stalking issue or any other issue similar. I was an online guide with AOL for many years and our set answer was always to contact local authorities & THEY will handle it. Otherwise, anyone could claim just about anything just to grief someone.

I'm sorry about your luck with the cantina. You can only hope that he hasn't put enough maintenance in it to keep it running for long...or if he has quit the game, eventually his character will be purged.

yeah I know what you guys are saying

But what I'm trying to get at is that it wasn't HIS cantina. There is no mechanic in this game to allow for multiple people to have dominant control over a building. 7 of us were admin on the structure, and he unilaterally removed all of us. w/o a game mechanic to allow for multiple people to own buisnesses etc.. we could use a little help in certain circumstances such as this one.

I've known to remove bases because of claims players made, and or place them back up for the same reason. CS is there to help people out when others decide to take advantage of the games systems.

I hear you guys, he owns it. He can do what he wants with it and his 15 bucks a month.

But this is a problem. This will not be the last time that someone does this to a city, to a guild, etc.. I know at some point someone stole DB's city hall on Ahazi effectively stealing their city. They got the same response, but I'm saying mayors and player cities need a little support when it comes to things like this.

Yes there will always be players out there who enjoy making the others in the game feel screwed, but we don't have to deal with it. I think CS needs a new mandate to help out player cities, even devoted CSR's to certain planets. Like Dantooine planets would get a CSR they would be in contact with, could send tells and E-Mails etc... who's devoted to the content and game experience on that planet.

This would help live events, would supply better info to mayors on cancelled accounts in his city, and get a better response on city bugs. Maybe even be able to provide some live player events for cities.

All I've been asking for lately is info on whether his account's been cancelled, and if I can get a new CSR contact. There are still taxes issues, and other things us mayors could be able to fix with a CSR on our side.

My general question is, beyond this particular situation is...

Why does customer service not help player cities and mayors better, given the impact we have on game content?

You can not remove the owner, thushe must me the owner, it is his build, his lotsand he can do what he wants with them, if he broke any kind of aggrement between you or other players that is not a grief issue nor is it SOE's problem, just like someone buying/selling somthing on the forums and backing out of the deal. The only power mayor lack is the ability to resign office and hand offto another player with the correct skills, any power of what you are hinting would make mayors superplayers and give them too much power that could be abused and exploited to an extream. The issues with city halls were resolved a long long time ago. CSRs are not here to be our friends, they are here to server the core game system and protect the masses from griefers, we have no legal right to know anything about others accounts nor would SOE release such information to you just because you spent 15 Skill points and 500 AP, that does not make you better then anyother player nor does it give you power over them nor does it make you anymore trustworthy...
