My guild's leader recently quit SWG. Her alt char was our mayor as well. Now, I have been running against the incumbent mayor for about 2 weeks. It seems she is getting auto votes from everyone that doesn't log in and actually vote for me, as I have 100% backing from our guild/city to take over for our old leader. This is leaving our town (and guild, same problem with guild allegiance) in a bind, as it may take some time for over half our membership/citizenship to show up and vote in one week. Is this a bug, with her getting the auto votes? Is there a way around it? She has, at this time, no plans to come back, even to fix this issue. We don't want our city sitting stagnant for months until her characters delete.

You are in a tough spot. There is no real work-around for this. Getting people online to vote you into office is the only real mechanism for political change in a city. The mayor always gets votes by any citizen unless the citizen logs in and specifically votes for the challenger. The auto voting mechanism is something that desperately needs to be reworked. I am not sure what will happen when your current mayor's character is deleted. It may result in the destruction of the city hall -- and essentially your city. You should get a CSR ticket sent right away to see if they can stop the city from being deleted should your current mayor delete her character.
Good luck!

No it's by design, so that citizens didn't have to run to City Hall every week to vote for your own mayor. It's so the mayor gains Poli xp without having to actually garner the votes every week (what a pain that would be).
