last week in politics

This has probably been the most exciting week for both me and New Unity for a while... GreenMarine decided to borrow the city again for testing, so I logged onto the game to find that I can't do any testing O.o I accidentally registered (which wasn't necessary since GM was gonna return the city to me anyway), so I un-registered. A citizen thought that I meant to resign and wasn't sure what happens to the city when noone is registered, therefore she registered an alt (TC folks get 3 chars instead of 1) and got folks to vote for her. I also registered later not knowing what's going on, and GM transferred the city back to me even when I'm "behind" on the votes (I didn't campaign because I know the city's going back to me ) I talked to the citizen, everything was sorted out, and we return to our normal schedule

The next few weeks should be very interesting for New Unity... I just left my PA (Unity), and various folks have quit or will quit soon. things will be rough as my friends and I figure out what we're going to do guild-wise from now on, as we're going to do some planning before we decide on anything. I've told folks that I will remain as the mayor of NU unless they want to vote me out, but NU will be un-affiliated with Unity and I might change the name.

If I am voted out in the future I would likely concentrate on the TC correspondent city (which I haven't started but will as soon as I'm less busy), but if I'm really adventurous I might try to pick up a city on live somewhere on top of the corr city (don't send offers )

Thanks to GM for removing the unsightly house he placed next to my city hall so he can do testing right now I have no idea when my next election is, with all the forced elections... guess I'll just find out when it happens

so how's your city holding up?

Blackrock Imperial City on Lok (bloodfin) is thriving. Obviously I got minimal XP this week, so I decided to spend my time differently. I used a great mapping tool at swgplanner.tyger.org to plan how my town square will look after I get all the XP I need for decorations. I just have a few holes to fill in the future. My guild dancer is almost a master so she can drop her cantina soon. I mastered Doc this week and dropped my hospital. We are at 44 citizens and growing. My goal is to get enough votes so that the next election I can surprise all of my citizens with new decorations and civic buildings. I already have a shuttleport, gardens,lightsand cloner ready to go. It's gonna be a nice surprise for them all.

New Zion, Talus, Naritus

City is now a village, but because of the sad 750 xp i was unable to learn any skills or add any new structures to the city because of it. there is a possiblilty that we will get a cantina before thursday which will be good for the city.

I'm not on the city ballot nor do I plan to be, so I'm waiting to see what happens if no one runs for the election.

Other then that, I keep cleaning out the city, and preparing the new guild/city area. Much thanks to Finnahen for all his help. (hugs)

Well, a bit late news I guess, but here it is...

On Saturday, the 13th, we held our One Year Anniversary party on Constellation.

Pex was kind enough to decorate the town with a Lambda shuttle, several Imperial banners, and an honor guard of Stormtroopers all lined up in a row. I dedicated a statue to one of our citizens who doesn't play much any more, but was instrumental to the founding of the town, including building all the City structures. After that, it was a party in the cantina with live music, singing, and dancing.

I ran a Pazakk tournament in the cantina during the party, with over 1.5 million in credits given away to the participants. The final round was a dramatic hand with both players out of cards, and the winner pulling a perfect 20 with a 10-10 draw!

Afterwards, people started having friendly duels in the Town Square while it got dark and some fireworks were shot off.

And, to cap off the evening, players took a quick shuttle to nearby Moenia, where we boarded various space crafts (including a Luxury Yacht for a Booze Cruise type party, woohoo!) and played around in space for awhile.

Everybody had a great time. And the turnout was pretty good.

Since then, the Stormtroopers have gotten back on their shuttle and departed. And Constellation begins its second year of existence.

Well this week was an exciting one for us. We were finally able to move our shuttleport to where we wanted it. It is now closer to the center of town. We placed a new medcenter and I moved the cloner. We also moved the garage but for some reason it isn't working now. I am going to be adding some more militia members, and am hoping to get more members into our little city. We are currently 10 away from being a metroplis...which i might call on a few of our friends that have recently went to EQ2 and WoW to see if they can come back and place a house...(their accounts are still active. ) Things other than that are going great...I am still decorating the city hall....always new ideas going on in my head. /giggle I will be redecorating the guild hall with an imp theme in about 2 weeks....but before that I would like to be able to get more vendors into our city to get more business coming in. We recently talked again about taxes and such and everyone still likes the way we have the no tax issue so that people can just contribute to the fund. I finally was able to become master politician. (WooHooo!) I am starting to plan a city event...for the holidays but also to just have one.

Well that's all that's going on in our wonderful city.

We just placed some city lights in our city (located on Naboo) which work really well and have gotten a lot of compliments. I only wish they didn't take up so many structure slots. We may have to weed them out later, but we have them in the main squares.

Our city is made to be an "Imperial Fortress", but actually looks more like a University campus. hehe. We have designed it in "quad" sections, where there are a line of buildings on four sides, and an amenity (like a park, or other item) in the middle. I think the design has worked out really well, and gives a sort of "European", particularly Medditerranean feel to it, with the way its closed off, with winding roads.

I'm very pleased with the new election system, but I regret the fact that I'm already well-established in power as the guildleader of the (now) largest guild in town. If only they would have revamped it earlier... I ran for election previously when it was ran by another guild, but they eventually gave up and moved... taking most of downtown, including the city hall, with them. We had to rebuild the city hall, restart the town, and work with scratch. We've finally gotten back up to Township, and are starting to re-incorporate some of the suburbs of the old city.

Also, we are working on a marketplace in one of our squares, where we are letting merchants build tents to peddle their wares.

The north side of the city sits on a harbor and beach, and we are thinking of making a "park" or preserve by the beach with gazebos, to prevent people from building there, and making an area that everyone in the city can enjoy.

Well I finally was able to set up my city hall and re-establish Protector's Rest on Dantooine. The previous mayor wanted to move onto other things, so I decided to take over her position. But because more than half of the citizens have stopped playing, I wasn't able to beat her in the election2 weeks ago. Then since the policy changed to every 3 weeks, we decided we would demolish city hall and just start over again. More problems erupted from that, once again due to the fact that half of our players are never online. We didn't get 10 citizens to declare in the 24 hours they give you, so we lost city hall. Finally, we set another one up and got more than enough people declared so now we are a little outpost. I haven't been able to do much since I only have the militia skill. I did decorate city hall quite a bit and continue to make it look fabulous. Can't wait for this election to come to an end so I can gain xp and eventually make our town better!

Haven Island /Chimaera/Corellia

Citizens of Haven Island,

Thankyou once again for electing me as your Mayor. This has been a very busy week behind the scenes as we prepare for the first anniversary of Haven Island. The brandy is being brewed and the speeches are being finished. All in all Monday the 6th of December should be a very memorable day.

New citizens
============================

Despite all the running around we have would like to welcome the following people to the island.

Enetel Jump
Tigsen Darkmoon
Rajendra Das

City Growth
============================

Thanks to the new recruits we have grown once again and are now a metropolis. We will also be running a new recruitment drive after the Island anniversary to ensure we remain so.

Haven Island Chat Channel
============================

Yes after much testing we have a permanent Haven Island Chat Channel. To join the channel simply type in the following command. This will create a new chat tab and join you to the channel. You only have to do this once and each time it will auto log you in and you’ll be able to talk to your fellow islanders.

/chatRoom join SWG.Europe-Chimaera.Chat.HavenIsland;

Also useful for chatting is to set up an alias for speaking in the chat.

You can directly talk in the chat when using something like

/SWG.Europe-Chimaera.Chat.HavenIsland Here goes my text.

Create yourself an alias for it:

/alias island /SWG.Europe-Chimaera.Chat.HavenIsland

Now you can this to talk in the chat, without switching to the tab

/island Here goes my text

Be aware that this is an open public chat channel so anyone can join it. Thanks to Rael and Buz for all their help with testing.

Welcome to Cadme Corporation
============================

We have a new addition to the BlueDog mini mall. Cadme Corporation has set up shop catering for all you grenade, Power up and vehicle requirements.

Donations to the city
============================

For the past few months I've been funding Haven Island out of my back pocket so the speak. Through the lot donation scheme we have a number of harvesters placed all over Corellia running 24/7. These resources are then sold through a vendor in the Bluedog mall. The proceeds are then donated to the city.

Our city maintenance currently runs at about 700K per week and this funds every civic structure from the streetlamps to the shuttleport.

Now the resource trade has taken a bit of a hit recently, so I'd like to invite our more wealthier citizens to donate and spare funds they have slushing around and contribute to the city.

If you wish to donate you can do so by going to the city management terminal in one of the side rooms of the city hall. You can do so from there.

Thankyou for your help
