Thread: Mayor deleted equals city deleted

Before this patch I saw mayors of towns that deleted thier mayor character and thier city was still there. As long as they had maint paid on it they were safe. I deleted my main last night. I had no idea that SOE put a little trap in there that deleted the city hall. We have lost our city. Do not fall into this. I contacted a CSR and all he could say was that he regreted what happened but there was nothing he could do.
I have replaced a city hall in the same spot and all our towns houses were re entered into the city. But the citizens were not added. We had 55 now we have 3 and if people do not log on tonight we have lost another city hall. I do not know what to do. CSR's refuse to help. You can tell it is a darn town the way it is set up but they will not add the people to the roster. I have no way to talk to CSR's other than that darn holocron and that does no good since they never actually talk to me just send a form letter.
Simple...stop xploting...you might as well host a vendor and then drop merchant. Guess next time your wont delete your toon.

1st You are a jerk.
2nd this was not meant to be an exploit. I left the character the new mayor was not me. I deleted not to get anything but to start with a new character.
God you people think everyone does things to exploit the system. I could not leave being mayor for 6 @$%#ing monthes. I was tired of it. Others did the same darn thing I did. I would have never screwed my guild or towns people like that if I had known it would happen. I would have waited another 2 weeks to get out of office.
it has always been the case that the city disappears when you delete the mayor. I'm still not certain if you're the current mayor or not from the first two post, however it's not safe to delete your character even when someone is running against you and is winning.

A similar event happened to a city on my server (a massive city that everyone considered "the best" on the server, heck it had the TIE fighter from that old scavenger quest and never dropped below metro from the 5th week on) and support refused to support the town and replace the hall and their rank. It is on Naboo so take a wild guess at their chance to hit rank 4 again heck even rank 3. Luckily it isn't too far out but it was one of the major players on that world massive in trade and in factional events. It's 1.3k away from a similar size and power rebel town and the 2 of them fueded against each other for fun over the last year and a half.
It isn't 1 player losing his house and all the items inside it we're talking about here. That's understandable. This is a city, a community, hundreds of citizens potentially. Not exactly a great idea to tell 'em "too bad" without a serious reason behind it which is the line customer support gives.
This isn't intended to be towards you Papps I know that you can't deal with customer support for us but mainly just venting out the situation out I guess. Well that and hoping a developer might give it notice to let those CSR's get the swift kick in the ass they deserve.

sometimes they don't have the most up-to-date info, and each CSR has their own way of dealing with situations.p.s.: I don't think devs can kick CSRs. you can ask the head CSR to kick the CSRs though

True, but I really don't see a reason for CS to not replace the town for things such as this.

Even though its true to say that the Mayors residence is the city hall, its also true to summise that to be a Mayor, that player must be a declared resident and their residency is still bound to whatever structure they first declared in. And as its not possible to declare the CH your residence, losing your "initial" residence means losing the city.
