The city in question is a metropolis. Some people still have residence there, and do log in a few times a week, but the MAJORITY of them have quit, but the houses, PA Halls, and other structures remain. Of which, NO ONE currently playing has any admin rights to.

I attempting to revitalize my city with goals to bring it back to it's glory. I have a lot of players lined up to move into the city, place vendors, etc. But that is not my question.

My questions involve the existing structures that we cannot access. Specifically the "dead" house and the PA Halls, which are malls in the city square, the cantina, and the medical center.

1. Is there anyway to accelerate the destruction of these properties? ie, the property tax feature, regular tax, or any combination? With the new change that player structures now auto-deafult to the player's bank account when maintenance is empty, I would imagine I could be waiting a considerable amount of time to have them "burn to the ground" so to speak.

2. Do player structures disappear at any given time if the player has canceled their account? ie, 3 months after canceling with no activity, player structures are erased from the game? This would GREATLY help matters if that were the case.

Any help you can give would be appreciated, thanks!

1. Nope, they're there to stay until the great character purge of 2008.

2. Same as #1.

I don't think we'll have to wait until 2008.

Nothing can be done to accelerate the removal of the structures, only to getting it into a condemned state which is worse in many ways. When the structure purge happens, accounts that have been cancelled for more than 6 months will have their structures picked up and put in their datapad.

So.... I'm screwed, lol.

I thought of another idea. I could move the city structures to the other side of town, ie shuttle, cloner, etc and place new a theater, cantina, malls, etc yes? If I do this, would I be able to move the city hall as well or is it stuck in one place?

You can "move" the city hall, but this is what will happen:

1. City Halls cannot be moved, they must be destroy. So you will have to have another one handy when doing this.
2. If you have a lot of money in the treasury, you can only withdrawl 50k/week, so that can take forever to empty in some cases.
3. Once you place the city hall, all residencey is lost by all surrounding houses

So you go through all this trouble, basically starting a new city on top of the existing, means you have to have 10 people ready to declare within 24 hours of placing the new city hall. Then you must wait 1 week for each rank, can't skip ranks, if you have enough people declaring. So really, its best just to leave everything as is.....

I am in a similar situation... myself and the mayor before me held a city (right now of 81 citizens) most of whom no longer play the game. The problem with moving would be the history and time put into our city which has existed in two forms since near the beginning of my server.

But right now it is a ghost town, and I would love to make more of a merchant focus for the town (two mayors ago we tried, but then the mayor decided to place bases, etc) or make it more travelled even by the guild members!

For the purge, will it be after they figure out how to roll up houses? So that those who get theirs transfered to their datapads have all their items placed inside? If so, I hope they figure it out soon... it would really help!

Well moving it is out of the question then. There is 110mil in there. It's enough for 5 years of maintenance on the city, but it would take 42 years to withdraw it all at 50k/week, lol!

I'm just considering my options here.

The layout of the city square is a rectangle, that is about 500m west to east and 150-200m north to south. Around this central "square" as we call it, there are many structures. The breakdown of the are as follows, with my admin privledges, etc

Shuttle - civic, no admin required

Garage - civic, no admin required

PA Hall (Old Guild Hall & Mall #1) - no vendors, some decorations, no admin

Cloner - civc, no admin required

Theater - have admin, used primarily for community sharing of items

PA Hall - (Mall #2) no vendors, full of decorations, no admin

2 Medium Naboo Houses - "dead" player houses

City Hall - currently mayor, have admin

2 Medium Naboo houses - "dead" player houses, no admin

Medical center - empty, no admin

Cantina - full of decorations, no vendors, no admin

Other than that.... the city is FULL of dead houes, and only a small amount of active player owned structures.

I would agree with the above poster but not if you want to be a mayor because Mayor of existing cities hate challengers.Odds are they give you all you want EXCEPT for being allowed to run for mayor.Keep that in mind when joining a existing city.

If you want to be a mayor, Id say forget about the dead city because when the purge comes, you are likley going to have an Outpost on your hands anyway, so might as well start with a clean plate.

So, what I would do is gather up all the civic buildings and redeed them, like the clone center, garage, fountains, etc etc, then drain the treasury , and then finally destroy city hall and find a new locale.

Once the /housepackup is live, your citizens will have no problem moving, and this wont be the big deal it used to be. Then you can arrange the new city anyway you like.
