Thread: An idea on how to make player cities more rewarding

As of now player cities serve no purpose in SWG. And most of the cities are pretty empty and devoid of life. To change this problem how about the devs require the citizens of a city to do one mission everyday for 7 days or the city will drop a rank.

For example if a city is a rank 5 city that means each citizen of that city must do 1 mission every day for 7 days or his city will drop a rank. In other words that citizen must do 7 missions a week to help the city keep it's rank. I think this will help solve the problem with "Ghost cities."

Also why not allow the city to expand infinitely. The more citizens a city is able to obtain the wider the radius will expand. If the city looses people or if not enough city missions are completed, the city will fall a rank. This will allow them to place more homes and other objects. If the city radius overlaps other cities (this will depend on factions)how about we allow the mayors to compete for the top spot of the cities. If it is a draw than we will be at a stalemate until either may is able to convince the citizens that he or she is the better mayor.

Also if a rebel city overlaps with an Imperial city than why not have the two cities fight for power? Now I know this is a stretch but it would really add some meaning to cities and the GCW itself.

What do you folks think?

Are you saying EVERY citizen of a city must run a mission a day? If so, you'll see all level 1 cities.

And the idea of cities being allowed to keep expanding isn't too bad, until a group of people start putting houses on the edge of town and start griefing the city because they are citizens and can't be banned/warned (if that ever makes it back in *crosses fingers*).

Although I like your idea of cleaning these ghost/cross-server padded towns - we just need the 6 weeks (or even maybe 4 weeks) of inactivity to remove them from the citizenship list *with the mayor getting advance notification such as:

"Gunit123 HAS BEEN INACITVE FOR 3 WEEKS AND WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE CITIZENSHIP LIST NEXT UPDATE"

The reason I don't like this "MISSION EVERY DAY" is that I think, overall the majority of players don't play EACH AND EVERY DAY. So, having to be online everyday and remembering to get around doing everyday is working against you.

Also, if a small city of 70 is content with it's population, why should it be overtaken/absorbed by a neighbouring growing city ?

I think, making player cities cost less and having City Player Content terminals/quests would help make it reward. Not, a daily mission.

I am sorry if I got you guys confused. I did not say each player had to run a mission everyday. What I was saying was the city had to have at least 70 missions completed a day. So for the city to have 70 missions completed each day, a citizens would have to complete 7 missions a day. But if certain citizens are not able to log on everyday....other citizens will have to pick up the slack. There could be a log or list to tell who is completing the most missions to help the city. I think this would encourage other the mayor to recruit new or vet players to help with the missions if certain citizens are not pulling their weight, causing those who want the city to succeed have to complete more missions.

The basis behind my ideas is to add more teamwork to the cities. I want to get a portions of a community to work together. And to put a stop to cross server lot trading. The citizens of the city should in some way contribute to the city to keep it running. As of now all you have to do is ask a person from another server to put a house in the city, give it to the mayor and that is pretty much it.

Having one of the few busy player cities, I am a bit confused as to what doing one mission a day would accomplish really? Are you suggesting they do it from a city mission terminal? I think one thing that would make player cities more rewarding is if player terminals gave out different missions than the ones in the main cities. Perhaps the payouts a bit more or - they went to missions that had a special loot drop or something.
