I use the city hall as a place to exhibit my interior design efforts. My large home is currently filled to capacity with resources. My medium home is filled to capactiy with crates of arch items. My small home is filled to capacity with more resources. My 2 structural factories are always belching out some arch item. My equipment factory is grinding out weapon power ups as fast as it can.
Then there are the 12 mineral harvs and 2 fusion harvs I have mining ore, steel and radioactives every day.
Yes I have gone over the deep end and have 30 lots from three accounts.

Well ... technicly the hall is not the mayors house - he just registered residence there - but he doesn't pay a lot and if he loses the election he looses control over the hall - so it would be fatal to treat the hall as your personal home ...
And adding to that ... how workoholic are you to sleep in your office ?!?

Oh well, I decided to pickup and then drop merchant to get all those vendors, customize them, and use up that last little dinky lot on something useful before I finish my combat build so I can't complain too much.
As for the city hall, mine fill the role of a city hall. The library is decked out with a librarian protocol droid, some nice chairs and tables, and some lamps. The other room is my office and looks pretty darn spiffy if I do say so myself. The main hall is a showoff spot with a big terrarium. I should update it, but my sig's link shows what it looks like in general, updated it a bit and made it look a tad nicerI feel. I also decorated my cloner to fit its bill.

I had great fun decorating the Hall and my own office, but then hit the contents cap so the 2nd room has been left relatively bare

Well as I am a master bio-engineer I use the clone lab as my lab and the city hall just a storage and because i still have open lots i dropped a house also though can not find time to decorate it i spend most my time in the lab but being a master bio and having my own clone lab is kinda fun.

I really really wish they we had a mayor's house as a civic structure. something unique, as opposed to a renaming the floorplan of a Large Naboo house. Personaly, I would like to see a house resembling the Emporer's retreat
