Its been two months that my entire city has tried to get me out of office. I've sent countless emails out (along with the new candidate), used countless spam bots, and even had people change the name of their homes to vote for my replacement. The new replacement got tired ofwaiting and I don't blame him, I can't progress forward to new professions because my city still needs a mayor to move trainers around and to add new people to the militia ect and my skill points are at a lock down.
I am pissing people off everyday by sending out spams to all its residents to vote me out, I had an entire PA who lived in the city leave to go play City of Heroes (while leaving all their homes to take up spots for new people) and to top it off I am paying 15$ a month to have fun and I'm not.
I am leaving to play EQ2 soon and my biggest concern is that I won't be able to get out of office and be forced to either destroy the city hall or leave my city mayorless, neither choices benifit anyone. I wrote a ticket to the CSR and he said
"being a politician mirrors real life, you must rally your citizens to vote you out and to vote in a new prospective mayor".
In real life a mayor can RESIGN! All that has to happen is a CSR would reset the votes for both the mayor and the replacement to 0 and than let the votes decide who becomes mayor..............

We had this problem with our PA leadership change. When I played Earth & Beyond there was this nice command /gc promote. It worked nice, We never had a problem with it. (Granted if your GL went AWOL you were out of luck)
Having a way for people to vote is nice, however if some one wants to step down then they should be able to.

Oh ya. Big 'ol surprise you got what pretty much amounts to a canned response from a CSR. I don't know if it's worth asking CSRs for help any more.
It's pretty dumb for a CSR to believe that Mayors in this game mirrors real life Mayors. You are so right! Not only can a real life Mayor resign, but when people don't show up to the poll booth, they don't vote. Here you have a vote even if you are dead and buried or just quit the game so long as you voted once.
The only problem I see here is that if they drop inactive resident voting, they will probably drop their residency which will demote cities left and right. Yet there will be houses still in place so to make it difficult to place new resident housing. The simple solution is, LET MAYORS RESIGN!!!
I have a thread on this forum with a petition to get this changed. It includes a very simple solution. If you haven't /sign ed it yet, please come do so. Here is the addy.

Well it took me two weeks for me to get into office and get the old mayor out.
He too wanted to move on to new things, 9 months in office was long enough for him.
So basically what I did was put the names of all the citizens on my friends lits and sent and e-mail each and every day to them to change thier votes.
We even had several people that do not play anymore which we contacted with out of game e-mails.
This past Friday, our efforts paid off, he is now out of the officer and i am in, and he and i cannot be happier
