I am currently a BH, however I have taking time off to do some other proffessions for fun.
Anywho to the point, perhaps you politicians have enemies that you would very much like to get rid of. Enemies of the city. Anyhwho, perhaps a Master Politicians should be able to institue bounties on other players or just politicians of an opposing city or guild leaders.

I like the idea. However I can see one problem.
"Our mayor quit playing because he didn't like getting killed every time he went out to place that fountain..."

I'm a master politician master rifleman, what do I need a lowsy BH for? I'm a sniper and assassin on my own right
And if you have a high bounty on your head that you are getting camped, just counter it. Find out who put the BH's on you and offer one up on that guy. After awhile just reach a ceasefire/armistice/see who can last it out the longest.

This would be so much fun and a neat way to impose a player bounty system.

I have been joking with the BH's in my guild for a long while that I will be hireing them as my protective service detail when/if Mayor bounties ever come out. I think that Mayor bounties should be in the game. I know that as a total PvP incpompetent I would be an easy mark. That leads me to think that there would need to be some kind of "Rating" for a mayor's importance and ability to defend themselves from attack. I havent a clue as to how this might be done, but it should be considered.
I am already a hostage in my own city, rarely leaving the town for lack of time. If I were to travel outside the city borders and a BH could hunt me, say once per week, I would be ok with that. It would give me a reason to hire a bodyguard or 3 for when I travel. Of course I want a bullet proof x-34 with tinted windows.
Cheers!

Think about how much fun it could be.... Having to travel around with a "possee" or having to organize a mayoral motercade to check your harvesters. It would really add some excitement to the profession

I'll lay money on this never happening. If /cityban and /citywarn can be abused to the degree that they become griefing, the'yre certainly not going to give us powers to force someone to fight.
Pity though... Placing bounties would make Master Politician something worth striving for.

I also thought about something like this a long time back ... not only for politicians, but for about every non-combat professions.
The idea to prevent a gank fest was, that you could chose to declare yourself "overt" to your profession ... by this you get the ability to counteract with competitors in a PvP style, but you are also vulnerable to being attacked the same way ... only these ways would not simply be fighting ... but multifould ...
- Crafters could higher a smuggler to sabotage factories or harvester, so they produce less, or stop production totaly (player gets e-mail of course, to fix the problem himself, or higher another smuggler).
- Merchants could pay off the vendors of rivals to demand higher prices (that go into nirvana = money sink) until the boss player of said vendors has a little chat with them ...
- Politicians could higher a BH to kill other, also "overtly declared" politicians ... of course this BH would get a TEF for the militia of the politician, or the group members (his bodyguards)

There were some recent design discussions for sumggler profession where this was brough up. Basicly the discussion concluded that there would be 2 diffrent degrees of crimes 1 would impose some serious NPC penalites the other would land you on the BH terminal.
there could be something as simple as a warrning such as "Warrning "mayor X" may aquire your bio signature if you complete this task"
