As it stands in a city we're in, the current mayor is largely inactive and would like to retire his seat. He is stuck with 70 votes.
We have two people that would like to run for mayor however the issue on the plate is getting the current voted out.
One half the argument says that if 2 people run as long as the combined total of their votes exceedes the current incumbants total the mayor is voted out.
Example:
Incumbat has 70 votes
New runner gets A) 41 votes
other new runner gets B)40 votes
New runner A) wins and incumbant is kicked out.
Am I correct in this or does 1 single person have to out do the 70 votes of the incumbant?

It's a plurality system. So long as a challenger on the list has 1 more vote then everyone else (s)he wins.

also must remember that as players vote for the new guys, votes are taken away from the incumbant. just did this same thing 2 weeks ago
