I have a question about changing mayors. My guilds city has a master (or close to it) politician. What would happen if we elected a new mayor with just the novice skill? would we lose all the abilities (such as having a bank, shuttle, and cloning center)? or would our city still be able to use them?

Like many of you on these boards, our town is attempting to elect a new mayor over an absentee mayor. Actually, he's been on within the last week, but doesn't seem as interested in politician. He has 28 votes now, and our new candidate has 17. Like most of you, there are a lot of citizens who don't play anymore and their votes keep tallying for the incumbent. I'm concerned about what I've read about the voting terminal not reflecting the winner of the election. Has this happened to many of you? From what I understand, our incumbent might never log on again, and the town will remain his until he is outvoted? What if he decides to hop on and redeed the city hall! Do we all lose the town? Can he do that? Please help.

Yes he can take down your city. Yes you need to get a majority of the votes to get a new mayor. Yes it really sux. We are on our 3rd mayor. Each time was a pain.

I am in the same situation in Salanar. The old mayor plays little if any at all.

10% of the town is probably left the game but there houses still exist and so does the "ongoing" vote.

When I decide to move on whenever that occurs I will want a phase-in period with the new mayor.

Tp prevent the town and the new mayor from becoming inconvinienced.

Be sure you are aware that city halls do not redeed. You will have to destroy it outright and (I assume) forfeit the money in the treasury by doing so.

Also, be sure you have a new city hall handy so you can place it immediately. I would hate to hear of a city being lost completely because someone else placed before you were able to get a new city hall up and the city cap had been reached already or some such.

Good luck, this is always a major difficulty.

I have a couple more questions actually. First, are there cities that aren't official on planets just waiting for a city to drop off for them to be under the cap? Also, does that happen automatically? Or does the owner of a city waiting to be official have to notice that a city has dropped off, and drop a city hall immediatly? Also, I got an email last night from a guy who has moved out of my city, but is still a "resident" of the city. Is the terminal bugged? Is there a way around all this? Might his vote still count? Sorry for all the question.

they may have to actually revoke citizenship.i have people who have moved out also and still show as citizen. problem is, if they are a trouble maker you can't /cityban a current citizen.

there are no unofficial cities, but there are cities waiting to go up in rankat the cost of another city failing. And this process is done automatically.. ie class 4 city falls to class 3... the very next class 3 city to cycle and have enough citizens to go to class 4 will do so. Hence filling up the class 4 caps again. rinse repeat. it's on a first come first serve basis as far as deciding which city will upgrade to take an available slot above it's current rank.

Your absentee citizen will remain a citizen so long as his declared residence falls within your city limits. so unless he places a house somewhere else and declares there or removes his declared status from the house in your city, he will continue to count as a citizen and his vote will still count.

Okay, so here's the lowdown...

A city cannot be placed if the planetary cap has been reached already. Period. As the previous poster said the rank exchange thing can happen though so be on the lookout for this.

Also, about dual-citizenship, A player can have dual-citizenship to cities that are different planets, though this is considered a bug and possibly an exploit so do be careful emplyiong it to your advantage. Knowledgable employment of this bug to gain citizens is exploiting this has been stated to administrators in my city already (they were inquiring to CSR's about observed effects).

You may want to point out to citizens who have moved that they are unwittingly exploiting game systems and should formally revoke citizenship in your city before moving on to another.

Yep - all city related structures will be destroyed at the same time as the City Hall goes boom.

This can be a major inconvenience, especially the bank, as residents may have credits and goods held in there. If the bank goes poof, so does everyones banked items and credits (an undocumented feature that no one at SOE likes to talk about much).

I've redeeded and moved our bank many times. Never had a problem. My understanding is that we bank on Corellia, not in a specific city. Does this only happen when the bank gets destroyed by lack of mtce or something?
