odd.. I only have this error when trying to move something to close to a wall or whatnot.
have you tried the "/movefurniture forward 10" commands?

Hi there,
I am a new mayor, and I would like to decorate my city hall. When I drop items in city hall and attempt to move them into place, I get a "That item in not in the building" error message. I have seen some beautifully decorated city halls, please don't tell me that I have to pick things up and drop them into the exact right spot. That would make decorating hell for me.
Thanks,

Yes, those commands give me the errors. Selecting "Move" from the radial menu tends not to be precise enough.
Thanks for you reply though.

Odd, I thought they had fixed that bug. Try and use the /move back # command and that should work to be the more precise control that you need. The inability to use either forward or back in some homes was a bug from a long time ago that I had thought they fixed. Maybe it had something to do with location over the deed, either way I'd contact a CSR to find out what's up with your city hall. Since we can't redeed them they might be able to. After all only having 1 direction of movement isa pain in the arse so it's worth a shot.

I will try today after the patch, if it still doesn't work I will submit a CSR ticket and wait.... and wait.... and wait.

this is what I called.. a really annoying bug.
you might want to turn around and try the "back" command.
sometimes it forgets it can go "forward" so I turn around and use "backward" and it works... this will work as long you can rotate the item..
or vice versa... it is really annoying really.

Rather than the full /moveFurniture, try just /move.
As weird as it is, they sometimes seem to have different results.

been having this problem since the beginning of patch 6, had hoped patch 7 would fix it. nope but hey you can move stuff up 500 though. the only way i found to move the item, is to turn around and use the /move back command.

I decoratedtwo entire houses "backwards" by using the /move back XX command. Was pretty funny doing it that way, but it worked.
I think it has to do with stacked structures, such as medium Naboos (mostly). A medium Naboo doesn't fit its footprint exactly (it overlaps outwards) which is why they stack.
