Thanks for the quick answers.
Yes, I would definately talk with the current Mayor before doing anything. I would never want to hurt my town or guildmates by trying to steal the city. That would just be wrong.

I have another question:
Say I am in a city with 80 citizens. 35 players vote for me and0 players physically vote at the ballot box for the incumbent.
Would the incumbent Mayor get the remaining 45 votes automatically and win the election? Or would he recieve 0 votes, because no actual players voted for him, and I would win?
To clarify, all citizens "vote" every week. When you register to run for mayor, the standings will show the incumbant with (total citizens-1) votes and you with one vote. As people come in to vote for you, they are actually changing their existing vote (which is always for the incumbant).
Therefore, even if you have 100% of the "physical" vote, you have to have 50%+1 votes to oust an incumbant.
And for the other poster, actually, I don't think it's there to make our lives easier. It's there to prevent people registering torun for mayor15 seconds before the update timer expires, thus winning as they were the only person who voted that week.

Well I had to run against our first Mayor. She was not on for about 3 weeks and no one heard from her. So we all thought someone else should run so I stepped up to the plate. It was hard took 2 weeks to get people on to get half the vote. She did in turn come on the day after update and was so pissed off that she destroyed the med center and what was in it. We did get it back from her but not without a fight. But the city has not been happier and we have grown in size as well and getting ready to do a new city layout. So all in all it was so worth the fight. And by the way you cant ban a city member.
