My city instituted a NO-Overt law, backed up by the city militia city/warn command...Why would a mixed group of Imp/Reb/Neut have this law.... Well to stop our city from turning into another Bespine or Anchorhead. As of 3 weeks into this.. our city has used warn a total of 1 time to get an a-hole out of town..Boy I guess thats an over-use of power huh?

We do allow for overts only onsat, creating interesting player conflict between imp/reb and militia.... So now we cant have a police force... isnt that just grand......Hello....McFly....This is plain stupid!!!

Players dont have to go to cities where griefers are...plain and simple... they wont.. and those cities will become rundown and unpopulated. Now the griefers can come into our cities and we cant do a dam thing about it. The cities who wanted a strutured way to defend themselves from the less appealing players in this game will no longer have that option? And the militia is then for what? I am sorry but /City Ban doesnt cut it....oh no the banned playercant go into our city hall..thats got to really make them reconsider their actions...

So nowwe have cities that are controlled by only 1 player (the dictator Mayor who alone has access to all city powers) and an impotent militia that can only yell "Stop...or I'll say stop again"...

This is not an Imp or Reb issue.... Jabba's gaurds didnt stop to check and see if Luke was "overt" before trying to deal with him. Han didnt wait till Greedo offered him a duel before he shot him.... and we the players dont want all thetime and money we have invested into creating a world that the dev promissed usto keep getting stripped away option after option...Life isnt perfectly fair, and this change will only benifit the childish, whinning, fools who play this gameonly to annoy other people and cause them distress..

This is utter bull crap.

How are we supposed to keep the cities policed.

How can we have a factional city, like we were promised.

If this is the case then city ban should keep the players from enterting the city zone.

As a matter of fact, the people enganged and griefed in this manner were asking for it in the first place. Warned you leave, its simple.

This sucks.

The /citywarn removal stinks.

Possible compromise: identify POIs on the map, and prevent city halls from potentially overlapping them. For existing city halls that overlap a POI, make it impossible to citywarn someone in the part of the city that would have prevented city hall placement.

I've just done a count of the various posts on this thread to save Plinka some time..

100 posts have resulted in the following result:

97% for keeping City Warn intact as it currently is on live and are very angry at the thought of losing the most EXCITING development in the game so far.

3% for removing it. (One of those is not a Politician, so their views are irrelevant anyway as you are the Politician Correspondent and this is the Politician's forum)

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Please tell the Devs that their suggestion has been rejected by their customers and that they need to come up with a different solution, but appreciate them giving us an opportunity to provide feedback on it before they put it live.

Yours,

One of the biggest perks for making your OWN city, was to have a place with your OWN RULES, the violators will be punished...

Oh well so much for my dream of being a Militiaman.

yet another nerf to serve the CAREBEAR guild.

Seriously removing this perk for building a city, just totally ruined the whole SIMCITY aspect of the MMO world. 2 thums up for the original Idea, 2 THUMBS WAY down for the removal of it.

I cannot believe that SOE has taken the opinion that those of us who have worked our rear ends off in order to put up and maintain a city don't deserve the ability to select who we want to enter and leave our city. It seems to me and my guildthat the developers have turned out one disappointment after another, and the so-called Customer Support Represenatives aren't much better.

By getting rid of /citywarn, SOE destroys the sovereignty of all player cities. We no longer are given the option to select the clientele of our vendors. We have that selected for us by the knee-jerk reaction of the developers, who instead of telling the cry-babies to use customer service within the player cities to decide where they will shop and where they won't, by taking away the one act that can insure we aren't overcome by trash talking enemies that will drive away legitimate business.

So much for this being a role-playing game, I mean SOE basically threw that out the window when they allowed rebels and imperials to be in the same player association, now we can't even keep each other out of town because heaven forbid the hard work we put up in getting our cities up and expanding give us the opportunity to be able to cater to the population we wish to cater to.

Why even have factions in the game with stances that SOE has taken? Is this a war or a political debate? If you wish to cater to those that would rather play single-player Star Wars games and never face a foe that actually thinks like another player, please for the love of God give us a pvp server that will allow those of us that wish to keep with the true spirit of Star Wars and those that understand that the rebels and imperials are at war to play a game worth playing instead of giving us a place controlled by those that would be happier watching Hello Kitty and Friends than actually firing someone up.

If people complain that X guild is abusing their /citywarn, tell them to not go there. Seems a pretty reasonable solution to me. Just because you play the game doesn't give you the "right" to enter a player city. Players should be given free reign to rule their cities as they see fit. If you want to be tyrant, then so be it. I don't see you getting much business, but that's your right. You put in the time and effort to put the city up. Why should some whiny snot-nosed punk that probably has had the game for 2 days be able to tell you how to run your town?

DC and LotD on the Flurry server put together the city of Corriban on Naboo. We are both imperial guilds and so we wished to cater to an imperial crowd, especially since all other cities on Naboo are rebel. Our city is going great. We have set standard procedure when we encounter blue dots, rebels and known enemies. When we approach them, if they are blue, we ask them politely their business. If they are shopping or using the city as it should be used and are respectful to our appointed law enforcement officers, we help them any way we can. If they are covert rebels that we have encountered before, we remind them not to come into town to shop or use the facilities in overt status. If they are overt, we tell them we don't allow overt rebels in our town and give them a chance to leave on their own. If that fails, we /citywarn them. If they are overt or covert and known enemies, we tell them they aren't welcome and give them the chance to leave before invoking the /citywarn.

If a small few are abusing the power, why punish the whole? If it's just a small percentage of players being abused, why not tell them to grow up and find someone else to bother? This makes absolutely no sense.

Cities should not be able to control POI's. There should be no build zones around most POI"s and cities shouldn 't be able to expand or control any part of an area around a POI.

I don't have much problem with the city warn command. 30sec might be a bit short to get out of town. 1 min or so after the warning to get out of town isn't bad.

I think there could be other ways to deal with people griefing than to hurt the majority of people who are not abusing this power.

Anarchy!!! What city in this rules has no laws? None I tell you! What laws in RL are prevented from enforcement? None, again I say... Some of the Devs and some CS agents came to the Miss SWG pagents... they know how things were during the pagents and should also know how bad things were because we had rules and COULD DO NOTHING to enforce the rules or get rid of trouble makers. So now, when we have someone calling names, harrassing citezens, being a feneral nusance, or just being unwated, we can call a CSR who will take our names and maybe do something... or if its not against game policy, we have to deal with it. Personally, I'm a big fan of just dealing with it, I mean thats what the people in my RL city do when people break their laws... we just ignore it! Who cares? I will come up with a viable argument later, without the rants...

Unbelievable.. I am mostly not a PvP player, I tend toward the healing arts, however, is not the game Rebel's vs. Imperials?

Would not the Imperial Army wish to squash any Rebel entering their space?

Would not the Rebel's wish to keep the Imperials from finding out where it is they hide?

The /citywarn command was the perfect tool to do this. By just being able to ban a PC from entering an area you kinda take a bit (a lot) of the fun out of people trying to"raid" a city.

By taking away the power of the militia, you are killing a major draw of those who may wish to play the game in the way most would feel it to be.

Are you listening to a bunch of whine bags that can't handle being killed when trying to enter a place they are not ment to be? If this is the case then you may as well take out all the most difficult monsters in the game so no one can die from them. Or better yet take out the ability to die all together. I mean come on if people dont want to die in a "game" then I really think they should go find a game that they can "save" and start again from the point before they were going to die so that they dont ever have to worry about it.

I am a member of LOTD.

I do not see why this is the only solution to the circumstances you have quoted.

1)

POI can simply have a no build radius. Make it as big as youd like. Heck, even give the cities being destroyed special privilidge in city growth etc. Seems fair to me.

2)

Why are you FORCING people to respawn at NPC cities if they are not cloned in the player city? Give them the option.

3)

Why cant youpost the actualproblem and let us create solutions for you. We are paying for this, and we WILL quit if you continue to screw things up.

The reason why this wont work is because there are always problems that need to be solved. If you remove this you can't seriously belive there wont be serious reprecussions? You have any idea how pissed im going to be if a rebel finds a way to use this new removal to come into our imperial city and cause havoc when this command would have solved everything? No i dont know what that is yet but frankly I am not eager to find out. This command gives a city MUCH NEEDED POWER.

Maybe change this command to a /eject style command and create a window for the reason.

Then DON'T send discrepancies to CSR's!

Use it for further adjustments on the command.

See? Some of us DO have ideas.
