I would like to add a wish:
When an account or player (or both) is not active anymore, the player's house should be transfered to the city mayor, so that he can move it elsewhere, destroy it, or whatever. As that would use available slots, the mayor title should bring the character in charge extra slots (or make them occupy temporary extra slots -for a week or two or so- until the mayor has moved the house and/or reassigned it to another player or whatever).
Anyway, nice to read this post. I agree with all the ideas. :-)
P.S. My city is plenty of houses that belong to players which are ghosts or inactive ones. And the only chance we (the very new city rulers) have is to wait until they self destroy due to lack of maintenance.

They've been turned off for the last...God I dont' even remember when they where working. I went into 3 of 'em when they were on but that was back before anybody had anything so I can't really give a comparison to what it would be like today. Was fun though and would be great if they got brought back.

The other thing is that the battlefields are never used. One way of ensuring their use is to put up a special base there which could change hands depending on who holds it for a certain period of time. Whoever controls that base has surrounding land rights to very rich harvest of resources. Like 5 times the normal rate. This would give players incentive to fight over certain areas without interfering with the large areas used for normal harvesting.
Now that my town is a true bastion of rebellious ways I wish we could have "free" bases. Essentially municipal bases that have maintenance paid out of the treasurey (slightly increased cost per hour since you don't risk losing all the treasurey at once) and costing 0 lots. 6 is just too much to keep up a fairly large base area without a few very dedicated citizens that don't mind throwing away lots. I mean I would still love to see factional decorations and gardens (and frankly put me on a pipeline with the art department and we can probably come up with some great things
) but if we could get "free" bases it would make them sooo much more visible in the game. I mean yeah the fp cost is a large part of their rarity but the fact that you need like 80 lots dedicated to get a single base and wall of defense is a major part of it too.

My two main issues are the ability to make city's more defendable, (walls, turrets, etc) and the mayoral ability to move "inactive" houses out of the city.
