No one is forcing players to come to player cities, and two minutes and plenty of time to get out if you get warned. Removing /citywarn will do nothing more than neuter player cities ability to police themselves AND open cities to verbal griefing and harassing. Our city is an imperial city. Now ANY covert rebel can wander about with impunity and we cant do a thing about it. Thanks so much

I like the removal of /citywarn. There is no crime that players can commit in a city that can't be handled by /ignore. The only crime is verbal abuse.

If your city is an Imperial city, then you will have a faction base and covert scanners placed throughout town. Problem solved.

that's pretty naive, Cho - we're a neutral town and as everyone in town is either non-faction or covert, if some a$$monkey overt imps want to come to town looking for trouble (as they did on saturday)we have no recourse except to let them wander round harrassing and threatening players.

there are MANY legit reasons for doing this, and it's wrong for the devs to remove it, wihtout anything to replace it - such as /cityban kicking someone out of the city's radius, and excluding htem

I want to thank you for trying to understand my position. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I am not quite sure how to express this to you as it seems to be a foreign philosophical idea that can be difficult for ‘gamers’ to grasp. I am not trying to get you to come around to my way of thinking. I personally do not wish to see PvP removed as an option when both parties agree to the conflict. As I did for Kade_Deveron I will try to express myself without too much rambling, and in doing so lose my point.

1)Unlike people who’d classify themselves as ‘gamers’ many (if not the majority) of casual MMORPG players respond very differently psychologically to being attacked by another player. It is a completely different response than to a computer controlled opponent. These players, often referred to as ‘carebears’ in a derogatory way may be bloodthirsty killers when it comes to PvE, but undergo a very severe form of trauma when it comes to engaging a ‘live’ opponent.

2)The developers are well aware of the research being conducted by Universities and Think Tanks concerning online communities and the consequences of PvE vs. PvP gaming, and will continue to take a conservative response when it comes to development.

Taking these two points I will again state what I feel to be a fundamental rule that will exist in any MMORPG that is produced and developed for the mass-market.

*There will always be a ‘state of being’ in which one player will in all ways and at all times be immune to attack and thievery from other players*

This, I am expressing is, I feel, the “One True Rule” of any MMORPG that will remain a mainstream product. In SWG, that ‘state of being’ is neutrality. It has nothing to do with activity or choice, it has everything to do with the fact that to the marketing and development teams, their bread and butter customers are casual gamers, weekenders, and housewives who wish only to socialize while being able to maintain the feeling of playing a single player game.

Niska -- since I'm not a power-gamer, not a PK'er, and relatively new to MMORPG's, I completely understand your desire to have large areas where PvP is completely optional to a player. I want that too.

I just don't think there's any need for Player Cities to fit that definition. You enter by your own choice, you take a risk by your own choice. You want to remain invulnerable to attack, you stay in the NPC cities or non-city areas of the planet.
