Thread: Thunderheart, how is this going to help Politician?
/bump
And I was worried that this topic had been dropped while I was in an egg nog and rum coma for the last week. Thanks for bumping guys!

I'm the mayor of a city of 60 and we don't have ghost citizens and xp is slow. Player Cities are very cool but have some issues. Why are there plans to NERF politican XP when there are more pressing matters to deal with? Next thing I'll find out is that the gifts are weapons, armor, droids and structures to take away income and xp from those craftsfolk.
This is Madness and I will be very displeased if this shortsighted measure is taken. It will punish Politicians and Honest folks and will reward the greedy and disloyal. I have a citizen that was proven to be a spy and still lives in the city dispite being advised many times to move on. He will be rewarded for remaining an unwelcome resident who is a threat to the community at large? Why should this rat be rewarded and the loyal citizens get nothing?
1. Citybanned people who are not cloned anywhere will spawn where they died. For factionally aligned cities this is worse than letting them spawn in our cloning center.
2. We can't use the /setpermission ban feature of our structures to ban those PA which are clearly hostile. They can just shuttle in and clone then use our city services to harass us.
3. Relaxed terrain isn't flexable enough. Why can't it be more like how it works when placing a factional base?
4. Master Merchants have pauper tents when they should have a Corporate Office which ranks on the coolness scale of Cantina, Hotel and Medical Centers. More of a Merchant issue but I figure it's worth mention.
5. Citywarn was removed and Militia have very marginal purpose. Does the Militia 3 option actually do anything? I don't see any modifiers in the skill list. If we have a known hostile spying or harassing the citizens we should be empowered to deal with it.
6. There is no option for the Mayor to move structures within the city. If given admin by the structure owner the Mayor should be able to pick up a house with all it's contents and place it at another position. I don't know how the data is stored but I do believe this should be easier to impliment than it sounds.
7. Eviction powers should happen which would give the politician the ability to evict someone from the city. They would have 1 week to get all their belongings and pack up the house/factory/harvester before it goes *poof*
To close: Don't do it! There are other more pressing matters that require your attention. If you want to add content please do, the game needs it. Just don't have this player content take away the bread and butter of a profession as limited in power and unrewarding as a Politician.

Little off topic here but I've been thinking much about this one as well. Unless I am mistaken, weren't able to redeed and move a house and everything in it up until they changed that to prevent storage exploitation? I seem to recall that you could redeed a house and when you placed it everything was exactly where you left it. They didn't want people putting 150 items in a house and then storing the deed in their inventory right?
Anyway, if they allowed urban planning skill for politicians that allowed movement of entire structures with everything in it, and relaxed placement restrictions further, and allowed us to create adjoining wall decorations that gave the illusion of two houses being joined together by a wall, cities would look much much better. Moving the structure and everything in it is something a CSR can already do anyway right? So it's technically possible.
I'm gonna jump on the bandwagon here, but the store is out of Jolt, so I'll bring some Capachino instead ![]()
Please give the Mayors some inherant skill that is useful.
Your local store is out of Jolt? *gasp* That means MY local store might be out of Jolt!! I'd better get down there right now and...
Wait, wait, wait. I nearly got out of my camping chair for that one.
[Acroyear sits firmly back in his chair, readjusts the sign a little higher, and camps waiting for a response]
BTW, I read in another post from TH that he very rarely responds to threads with his namein the subject. Had I known that I wouldn't have mentioned him at all. That said, if he wants to ignore the thread just because of that... well, I can be just as stubborn and keep exposing the topic until there is some kind of response.

Good morning all! Still here, still waiting for an answer, not going anywhere.

I don't expect my citizens to take this bribe, once I explain it to them.
While I'm all for more Politician content, thisseems like a poor attempt at humor. ![]()
I am not sure what the intention here is on the part of the Devs, but it does appear to me to be the first time I have seen everyone in the game having fun at the expense of one profession. I was hoping for a response on that - I somehow doubt this would have happened to any other profession.

Is this for real? That would be exceedingly strange decision on their part. I can't think of what the benefit is. It would literally be bribing players to punish politicians for no reason. It must be a joke or taken out of context or something. Not to mention, it sure would increase the number of ghost citizens, ie. ones that can't be bribed.
I agree, this sounds totally absurd. My town is only rank 2 with some 24 citizens. I am sure they will all vote for our mayor so she can get the xp, being only 1121, but still...
Sure a city, not "village", with a ton of citizens and a master politican this might be okay, but for in a town like mine this is just stupid. It really makes no sense what so ever unless there just trying to screw everyone over. This hurts a developing town for their mayor will not get the xp they should have and the town will not get any of the benefits of a higher leveled politican...
Ifa player is smart and take pride in their town they'll give their vote to the mayor. So this is just... stupid. I don't understand the point to it.
