Thread: I am SO ENRAGED!!
This is an issue that was bound to happen. I knew it the day they implemented caps. First on server gets the rights, and this is it. Live with it, this is not going to change.
As to "failing cities", yeah, fat chance on that. People that got the first slot are the most hardcore gamers, their cities won't fail.

I don't think this is necisarily true. I think that kids wouldn't in many cases have the force behind them to grow and maintain a city. It isn't cheap.
I know many of the Cities on our sever are held by large PA's with an INTERNATIONAL adult presence...IE peeps in other countries that aren't at work when we are.
Don't be so short sighted. And this isn't intended to flame you...just show a point.

This is an excellent and critical part of this social cycle.
Thunderheart,
could you please explain what is excellent and critical about this? Because I disagree so dramatically with you on this opinion that I feel insulted by this one-line comment without any explanation, argumentation or reasoning. Thanks.
To be blunt, they cannot allow everyone to be able to place a city or for all cities to be full size by limitations of both computer power and for realism sake. Planets would become wastelands of player cities which right now, at least on my server, every player city I have seen could easily afford to double or triple in player size, and yes, they have the room for it too.
It's amazing how this myth about caps preventing planets from becoming 'wastelands of player cities' has persisted despite the complete lack of evidence (or logic) supporting it. Maybe it's because TH and a couple of devs have repeated this nonsense that it's gained legitimacy, but it's nonsense.
How does the existence of player cities affect the total number of houses on a planet? There is no evidence that it does. It only affects the density of player housing ... people tend to clump up into cities instead of randomly spreading their houses across the planet.
Which means player cities reduce planetary urbanization, not increase it.
Now, maybe there's evidence that this isn't true ... but we've NEVER seen it, and it goes against every bit of experience players have in this game.
So please ... quit repeating the myth as if it were fact.
In a town I live in..around 50% of the houses are "ghost" houses...owned by alts nobody really plays.
Now we would much prefer having 100% ownership of "real" players who's main is a resident...but for now...in order to grow our city...we've got some absentee owners....and as we get more players...we'll demolish the ghost houses.

I resent your post. I work for a Fortune 500 company as a Top Flight sales executive, and placed in round 1. Alot of it was luck on Day One, but some people just know how to planand manage their time.

I don't care if you resent my post. What happened on your server might have been different than what happened on mine. I placed on Day 1 as well, although we had planned from the start to place on Lok knowing we would be shut out of the core planets. Planning and time management mean nothing when the server comes up at a random time during the patch day at a time when adults with jobs are at work. Not all of us have a pet unemployed person or college kid willing to skip class at our disposal. I'm glad you and others did, but you make due with what you have.
You sir are an idiot and at best a whiney little baby.
I also work a full time job yet we were able to place on day one as well. It has NOTHING to do when the server came up. The people that planned got it. Your just whining cause you got beat in the race to a bigger rank city.
You post comes accross as a temper tantrum. Someone needs to change your diapers and shove a bottle down your throat to shut you up.
I think part of the city problem is doto citizen swaps by some of the pa's to get larger cities.
I don't know exactly how widespread it is, but i know its happening having talked to a couple people who have done it.
Just contributes to ghost city problem as well as punishing active people.

Last night my city grew on Naboo from lvl 2 to lvl 3 to be met with the notification that my expansion was denied as there are too many lvl 3 cities on the planet!!
I, along with a couple of others, worked so hard in mapping outour city and placing the houses in semetric alignment trying to best accomodate placement preferences of the residents. We acheived 37 citizens before the upgrade last night. We were so estatic andso looking forward to the placement of the hospital today. Now our hard earned city is condemmed to remain at lvl 2 with no hospital placement ability. We could live w/o the shuttle port but not w/o the hospital and cloning center.
It is obvious that the developers have no idea how much work and energy one puts into making a beautiful, well planned, functional city. I am so enraged, I must take a day or so away from game and make the decision whether the $15.00 a month is worth all of this frustration, disappointment and inequity.
So go run for Mayor in another town and take it over......
Personally it is firmly my belief that this, and most of the other reasons banded about, is totally incorrect. For a simple reason - uncapped sub planets. By having the caps, they are encouraging people to start taking an interest in the lesser planets. This is eminatly sensible as the majority will try to jump on the bandwagon and place on a main planet without considering the benefits of a sub planet.
This guy has every right to be angry about this.
He is the paying customer, he bought the product and pays the subscription. You can deride what he should and shouldn’t have done to have know this would happen in advance all you like, point of fact is that while paying for his subscription he is entitled to exactly the same level of service and consideration as all other city developers. This game has a growing revenue base with more and more players added each day, the servers and systems should be updated regularly in order to meet the demand.
"I also work a full time job yet we were able to place on day one as well. It has NOTHING to do when the server came up"
Well, considering central planets got full in 15 minutes, yes, it has. Either you had someone in front of the computer, refreshing like mad and waiting for the server to go up, or you were SOL.
Howdy all
LOL....Now this is a lively thread after all.....
The arguement of who got to place on Day 1 and who didnt really comes down to planning/luckand notthe perception thatunemployed people and/or kids were the ones who sat in front of their computer for 8 hours. There are a number of Large PA's and a number of small groups of people who put down a Hall day 1. Conversely, there are a number of very large PA's and small groups of people who didnt. My comments here are based on planning and not the City Cap limit since we have no control over that. As previously posted in this thread I do believe that sub-level 4 cities should be able to have all of the structures excluding a shuttleport....
If I was in a PA that advertised they had 100 players in it and wanteda City and didnt get one then there is some, perhaps, poor planning there or maybe it was incumbent on just a couple of people to take care of it.
At the time of the city patch, we had only 21 people in our guild. Fortunately for us, our gang consists of N. America and Euro players(think that was by accident?). So the plan was simple based upon time zones. We had all the structure componentsmade before hand and placed in aback pack in a storage house. So, they just needed to be put together by aMaster Arch (which we had 2).Before everyone logged off before the big patch people just positioned themselves where they needed to be(poli trainer, citystorage house, planned spot)in case when they got home from work and when or iftheywere able to log on they could do their part if needed.....Did anyone really think it would take 2 hours for the update???? lol.
So with some planning and some luck we got a city hall 35mins after the servers came up.....Based upon the various time zones of our folks theytried to log in during the update and found the servers werent up yet...So they went on with their RL's. For us, if we didnt get a city the first day then so be it. At least we tried and understood the city cap limit.
For those who weren't able to get a city hall day 1,I definately can understand why you would be pissed off. Even more so if you had a similiar plan like ours butReal Lifechallenges precluded y'all from logging on.For the person who started this thread I would be pissed off too...There should be in place a screen that shows what types of city levels for each planet. However, its after the fact now.
