Asking players NOT to partake of a game tool to avoid PvP is very bad. That would restrict cities to the PvPers.

Thodious, I recall perfectly well. The problem is, the game is now released, people started characters based on some assumptions. Neutral= No PvP was one of the biggest of them all, the core of the system.

If the Devs intend it not to be true anymore, let them announce it. As long as they didn't, the design stands.

If a neutral player were simply 'moved' to the edge of town when warned, what would happen when banned? Could they then not be allowed entry into a city at all?

And how would that cut down on the griefing of these players? Lets say a neutral is at a vendor in a player city and purchases an expensive item. What's to keep the Griefing Militia from simply /citywarn or /cityban that neutral before they have a chance to obtain their purchased goods?

The neutral would be out of creds and no merchandise.

Would it be better to change the current plan to that? I don't think so.

There isn't anything wrong with the current way warn and ban are handled. So what if you're neutral, so what if you didn't want to participate in factional PvP. If you're in a Player City and you get /warned for no reason, guess what, use that 30 seconds to leave that city and never return.

By staying there shopping as the timer expires, you basically said 'sure! I want to be involved in PvP! shoot me!'.

Sluggy I do see where you are coming from. And yes I realize that this was one of the game's inital selling points. And if this was a stand alone game, then we wouldn't expect change. But changes do happen in MMORPGs.

My feelings are it isn't that big a deal. As a neutral, I have learned enough to know that I don't jump into hostile lairs without facing the real possibility of dying. And I simply view a player city as a potentially hostile lair ... and act accordingly.

Except that this concept is not the game design. The second part (AND...) was never meant to be, zone based PvP isn't what SWG is about, when you're talking neutrals.

Neutrals DO NOT have anything to do with PvP. That's not that hard of a concept, either.

You just don't get it, do you? Did you not have ample time to get out of the city? Did you decide to stay because you felt you had a right to be in their city?

Hell, there's even one Guild on Radiant that's attacking their fellow imperials for coming in their city.

Here's a tip. Don't go back to that city instead of complaining here.

slugeater.... no neutrality just means you are not part of one side or another.... if a war comes knocking on your door or you go strolling through the middle of it... doesn't make you invisible and invincible to it.... SWG whether you want to be part of the GCW is ABOUT the GCW.... I've had to come to accept this... as I guess your friend will have to too...

very simple solution... they have a mall set up... they want to sell things... vote with your credits.

Post here who they are and their location!

when they start to feel the squeeze of lost business and increased attacks from enemies because you posted their location, you'll have your revenge!

Their vendors can't make sales if no one will go there.

30 seconds is plenty time to get your mount out and walk out... unless you are crawling... and also it's the city militia's job to do what they want in the city to keep the order, If you were attacked just dont go back to the city, it's their loss isn't it?

Just because someone is neutral doesnt mean they can't or won't want to PvP..it just means they have avoided joining the GCW. I know that several of my first duels were when I was neutral. Since then I have joined the Empire and I have dueled with rebels and neutrals alike most of the time with them challenging me and not the other way around. You can'tclump all neutrals together with statements such as "neutrals=nopvp"...that is your opinion on the matter and not a fact.

I have to agree that if your friend didnt want to fight he should have gotten out of town in the 30 second grace period he was given...the timer might be broken now (I have not tested it yet) but if it is I am sure it will be fixed soon enough. I am on the militia in my city and tried out city warn a few times on friends just to see what it was like..I know that I couldnt attack them at first and they got out of the city in 10 seconds before anything could happen. I will test it more tonight to see if it is still working correctly.

What's wrong with you people. Not everyone who plays this game enjoys PvP. There is so much more to this game than have a **edit** measuting contest with every other 14 year old on the server to see who can pwn who with their uber 1337 skillz. Player cities were never intended to be private guild enclaves and the militia set-up as it currently exists allows for this very thing. all of you posting with RL nonsense like "there are casualties in war" and "it's your fault, you had 30 seconds to leave" are totally missing the point of the poster's original assertion. If you are indiscriminately warning and banning any blue dot on your radar say good-bye to commerce for your crafters, say good-bye to keeping this game fun for anyone but yourselves. you know, the more people you self-centered grifers drive from this game, the fewer and fewer people you have to actually play this game with.

i don't usually get involved with flame wars but this issue really ticks me off. You people bitched and complained until the devs caved and allowed faction bases in city limits. What do you want now? A red forcefield around the city that prevents epople from entering who are not on the officialy entry list? Ridiculous.

Flame away!

Even 14 year old PVP'er have rights. If they want a city and ban\warn and shoot people, they are welcome to it. Mark the city as one not to go into again.

What is the big deal, Im non-PVP and I can handle it.

There is not a problem.

You know, you're missing our point as well. If someone is neutral that doesn't automatically mean they are non-pvp. If it did then they wouldn't even have an option to duel another player. So there goes that little argument.

Second, if there is a player city whose militia is griefing people in this manner, so what? Avoid that city. They lose revenue for their crafters, they lose revenue on their city services, and eventually they may become so cash strapped as to not even being able to afford their city. If you are neutral and fear being warned in this particular city, then avoid it. It isn't that hard to do.

But if you remain there, even AFTER receiving the warning message, then by default you ARE accepting an invitation to duel and are thus stuck with the resulting consequences.
