Well if the 6 month character purge (which they announced what, 20 months ago?) was actually in the game I wouldn't mind a 1 month inactivity wiping them from the list but not their home. However as it stands we'll be hit with the citizen shortage and have the land freed up in an undisclosed amount of time.

Yes i do agree with this , if its not hurting the city to have the inactive member let it be , they might juts be that key member that keeps some structure placed

I do have a well i think important question ( maby its ben answered and i have just not seen it ) , is it posible to place a Factory , or any type of harvestor , as a CITY STRUCTURE , such as like the city has some ppl in it that can make things to sell , the city gains profits to keep up with the cost of living so to say ( maint costs ) is this posible to designate a structure like this that the city owns it and not an individual

I'd like to see some implementations when a player is not playing, you can re-deed the home as mayor. As the mayor of a city, you have full control over it. You have the right to decide if a home in your town gets destroyed, or not. This should not matter if they are not playing anymore or not. You should be able to redeed a home as the mayor whenever you want.

Housing isa large part of the city as we all know, so how can Iget my experiance as a mayor, and or raise my city if i can't placehomes, or transfer structures over ifi do nothave admin rights to the home. I need to be able toget citizens and votes in my city, and if i have 50 residance andonly 20 of them or 10 of them play, i'm not going to do very well at all.

I don't know if that makes much sense... but i am trying to make as much sense as I can, haha.

I am new to the mayor profession and new to the game, so I don't see how its fare to me or other citizens if i can't move homes around.

Also, i'd like it that if i do need to move a home around, the residance don't need to re-declare their residancy. It should be with the home's deed... because I may lose my town if I don't have all those delcares, and then i lose all the money and items in the town hall. And so does everyone else who donated.

Once again, I hope that makes sense.

Well I'd say the Mayor should be able to force the "roll up" of structures that are:

- condemned

- owned by players that have been inactive for over 60 days

- owned by players that have their account cancled for over 30 days

By this measure, Mayors can get rid of disturbing and useless structures no one cares about and yet keep those, that are not disturbing. Also players might start to care to inform the mayor if they will return from absence, because they do not want their structures removed.

This is a touchy subject.. To say the least...

Many cities NEED the cross-server housing because, quite frankly, who wants to deal with the all-to-many jerks that come around this game.

I've been playing this game since launch, and I've been involved with many cities/guilds over that time, and the far-too-few friends that remain have become a tight group. We, as players have enough to make an outpost, but that does us little good when you're in the hind-end of Lok.

If cross-server is your bane, then perhaps suggesting a new city-system that will work for everyone, because, well, it's limitless.

So because you can't be bothered to politik, as a politician, or interact with other people in this massively multiplayer game noone should? Rather than join a city and have your own district because, by any fair means, you are too small to have your ownrank 4but want all the bells, whistles, and joys that come with one you deserve to sit there with your 10 man metropolis and nuts to the people who actually put forth a modicum of effort.

These are ideas only - but if this game is to evolve, it need to understand that forcing people to play nice will not work... I've tried over the years, and every city, every guild that has ever "failed" has done so because one or more people could not get "what they wanted, when they wanted it" or felt they were not given "power".

And that is why the devs aren't acting like we're permanent additions to the game. If that was the case wouldn't we have terraforming, bazaars, and starports approved? Here's a newsflash we aren't meant to be permanent. We are part of the flux in the game and the cities that stay as metropoli for years have a reason for that and it isn't thanks to a few people bickering over power struggles and destroying it all from within.

My only concern for having citizens removed for their inactivity would be tied in to land use. We have limited space (thanks to locations some more than others) and potentially unlimited need for homes. If I keep getting quitters in my town with, now, impossible to blow up homes after awhile I won't have any room to replace 'em. With the house wrap up feature coming out in a few publishes or so I feel tieing that with citizen inactivity would be for the best.

You know what?

You're right.. I'll pack it all in and leave. Your post has made up my mind for me completey! I'm leaving SWG because quite frankly, after 2 years of this, I have never met the same "calaber" of player I met one or two years ago. Now all I meet are "I want to be a Jedi!" "Help me be a Jedi", "Yeah, this is great and all, but I want to be a Jedi" and let's not forget emails from the server "Lost Citizen JerkwadJediWannabee has is no longer a citizen, and the house you gave him/her is now gone with the 50k of maintenance because you did not help him/her become a Jedi in a week!"

I'm serious - I'm done! There is nothing left in this game but the same old bugs, grinds and flametrowers when any idea the conflicts with the grand greatness of those that are fortunately set up on one of the most populated servers.

Yes, most of my friends have gone, and the few that remain are all holding on by a hair... but at this point why bother?

While it would have been a great idea when the game started, it's much too late to limit housing only to Player Cities. As far as making Player Cities instanced zones, it's much more difficult than it sounds. It would require completely rewritting the basic planetary code as well as force all the Player Cities to start over (because they can't just be "scooped" out of the ground intact).

I don't believe *any* city needs cross-server housing. I've never understood the argument of "my friends list is always empty because everyone I know has left the game". I can agree that many of the players that used to show up on my list no longer play, but I'm always adding new people to it. There are some jerks in SWG as there are in any game, but there are far more nice people that I'd like to associate with. It *does* require meeting new people, though, which some just flat-out refuse to do.

I can see where keeping inactive citizens off the Citizenship List but still having a building in the city could be a problem for some. Tying it in to house pack-up is basically asking for character inactivity to be tied to the Character Purge (which is 6 months time). If a character is simply inactive but still paying, I don't know if they'd go that route because the TOS/EULA type stuff only refers to player's loosing things (which would include land) if the account is not being paid for. That's not to say that it couldn't be put in for Player Cities as a separate system, though. It's all in how big of an issue it is for us.

Thanks for the intellegent reply however CU was not a major change in the code?

They can do it, the real question is will they? And the answer is simple - No.

After 2 years I'm tired, and I guess I'm sick of being told that I'm too lazy to recruit, when in fact 99% of the noobs we got after RotS came out are GONE!

Why? Becasuse they could not be a Jedi in 30 days, and because most of us honestly did not wish to contribute to making yet another 400 Jedi... Every one of them, even those that said "Naa, I just want to play" picked up their houses because other cities were screaming "we'll help you be a Jedi"and many of them left completely...

There are no more "true players" coming into the game - at least no on Intrepid. Many/all are Jedi Wannabees and all too many people have left.

Purging houses of "inactive players" is fine if the house is condemmed, but if the Maint. is paid up, it should remain - my 2 cents, and now I'm done.

It's been fun! But 2 years is enough!

I would say do an Inactive Election run. I have 3 inactive players in my city, one that was under investigation for something I'm not allowed to discuss, and 2 others that have quit the game again. I have 1 large house that should be removed and 2 smalls that I can't do anything with. I would like to see the devs do a Citizen Roll up, Giving the Mayour the right to re-deed their houses with all their belongings inside it, and the mayour than could place it some where safe if the people ever returned.

But because the houses take forever to decrode and with it taking from their bank accounts automaticly, the houses are there untill the owners take them down or a CSR removes them.

This is a problem for us mayours because we not only have inactive Citizens, with houses that just sit there empty, or full with no one to move it when a city is needing to be shifted around, but we lose out on Voting xp as well, as they are not there to Vote. This poses a majour problem and I would like to see Inactive Player Structures rolled up and placed either automaticly into their bank accounts, or giving the mayour the Right to redeed it and place it for safe keeping for when and if they return. And if they don't return, allow us to either sell it or destroy it.

Just my thoughts.

im sorry but the houseing purge needs to happn no matter what one of my characters just now drove through a ghost town theres about 40 houses there i think 2 people are still playing now its just taking up space that another city can be placed. places like this are just hindering other people from building houses, towns and extractors. i can forsee at least 1/3 of the structures on ahazi dissapearing after the purge which will make many peopel very happy.

I don't mind the inactive citizens, a large number of mine are military. They still participate in the forums and via e-mail/IM to all their friends, but cannot actually log into the game. I want to see something done with condemned structures. To me, that seems like it should be the bigger priority. SOE has shown before that they are unwilling to delete/wipe stuff, so that they can use it to bring back players that have quit. Its all about the $15/month. If the structure is condemned, that signifies you didnt care about it enough to pay maintanence on it or give someone else the ability to do it for you. Condemned should be gotten rid of first.
