Because we're in the middle of a politician revamp so the devs are receptive to these sorts of things. Why there's nothing else on their plate right now to even think about...

Read back several weeks worth of "This week in Politics". The general theme is "I didn't do much, haven't gotten to login, was pleasently suprised to find that my city hadn't poofed, etc." Now I'm not wanting to personally attack Pappi, but she is clearly very busy with things in RL right now. I'm not going to go as far as to say that she is complacient with the Profession. Our Top 5 Issues were submitted after the deadline: Fact. She has stated over and over that she is very busy: Fact. If she is too busy for the position right now, in a time period that the Dev's have stated that they are working on fixes and enhancements to the game and professions in general, then we need someone that can take our ideas to the Dev's and be a voice for us. If we say nothing, then they think we are happy.

I do understand the importance of the Combat Upgrade, just as I understood the importtance of when they were working on JTL. I know that there are other professions that need attention. Right now, in it's current state this Profession is more like a PA Leader than a Profession. Is that how we are meant to function?

As for Sales Tax being our only real issue, while it's very important, there are plenty of other things and enhancements that would be great.

#1: Give us additional ways to pay city maintanance. A kick back from terminals and trainers, or a "Tax Rate %" that we could set for payouts.

#2: Give us additional parks and decorations. The ability to decorate our cities is one of the best things about us, IMO.

#3: Give us some kind of skill mods that increase as we level. Ideas are:

a: The ability to avoid contraband scans due to "diplomatic immunity"

b: Maybe the ability to reduce city costs as we advance in level, to a possible 25% Reduction at master

c: Give us a discount on purchasing Event Perks, to show our political connections.

d: Give Politicians the ability to book passage to any planet from any starport using public transportation, and grant them the ability for "insta travel without wait." (I know that this has lost relevance with JTL and decreased Shuttle waits, it's just included as a example)

e: Allow Politicians the ability to modify the Sorosub Yachts with components, and upgrade them. The Yacht has a place for gun turrets already, so the ability to modify it must be in the back of the Dev's minds already. Either don't give it as much mass as the Master Pilot ships, or link it to Master Pilot as well. As for what level of Politician is needed, I would love to see it as a Master perk myself, but maybe it would need to be a Tier 4 ability. Definatly not something granted at Novice Politician.

That's a few ideas off the top of my head.

That's three items, one of which is something people argued for strongly, over the course of a year.(?) The voting is good since there was a demand for being able to resign. The new voting structure I don't recall ever being discussed as such. The removal of skill points was asked for, but I'm sure implemented for other reasons. One of which jedi politicians were unable to convert politician points into FS points and thus taking up several points interferring with the ever so importatnt " jedi grind." Did removing points really take that much dev time? And the street lamps, well, that was a griefing mechanism, again, I don't recall many converstations about the demand do get rid of that. Largely, that was unimportant to the bigger issues.

Our "top 5 issues" isn't really stickied outside of being buried in the "read me" sticky. We still have issues of the taxes, shuttle fees resetting daily, city maintenance costs out of line with city income for higher level cities, an empty master box, the new voting xp system makes a new mayor in a large city useless for a long time until they can level up the skills needed to manage a city effectively, constant problems with abandoned structures with the new maintenance being pooled from the bank addition adding salt to an otherwise gaping wound, militia's are still uselessl, no faction recruiters placable in player cities outside of a base, and I'm sure I'm missing a few if someone else would like to help out.

I apologize if I'm coming across roughly, but this is one profession I want to succeed and don't feel it is. A player city can add layers of player made content and enjoyment to an entire server or community. We can always say " not now, the devs are working on CURB", or "not now, the devs are working on JTL". When is a good time then? Because afterCURB, are we going to hear "not now, the devs are working on the next expansion for the next 9 months". You just can't sit back and silence people's concerns. I feel many keep bringing up reoccuring items because they simply don't feel they are being addressed adequately.

my city is on Test Center. the server itself goes down often. when I said I didn't get to login, most of the time I meant either the login server is down when I tried, or the server crashed/was brought down. reading every single post on this forum (as well as a selection of posts from a few other forums) also takes up a lot of time.

I do appreciate the suggestions you made for enhancing our profession, and I will pass it on if folks agree to it... however I really don't need to be reminded of bugs that have been around or issues that are unresolved.

most of my work is from reading the forum first thing when I wake up and several times throughout the day, posting here and on the correspondent forum, emailing individual devs ever so often to keep them updated on the profession, and helping out other correspondents and QAs to ensure we get *some* attention and to help out with other aspects of the game. it's unfortunately that you don't believe I've done my job, but I know I have. as I've posted many times... do you want me to spend the bulk of my time here calming folks down, or posting/bugging the devs/QAs about our issues?

edit: minor grammar fix

oof, one more post, then I positively need to get going

as far as I can tell, the removal of skillpoints was actually based on my numerous posts on the skillpoint usage of the profession and the amount of folks who wants it lowered. I can't change how you think about it, but I can't let you see the effort I've put into our issues on the correspondent forum either. as it turns out removing our sp wasn't easy either, as 2 of my TC characters (you're allowed 3 per account) got bugged testing it while the patch first came out on TC.

our top 5 hasn't changed for a while. they're on permanent display over in the other correspondent forum along with other posts I've made on issues with the profession. the new house maintenance has also been brought up, and while the devs did post they haven't given me permission to post anything they've said (remember I'm under NDA).

hon, my playtime is my playtime. I pay 15 bucks to play the game too... and I don't appreciate someone msging me in game, starting out a convo without telling me who they are, then twist my words to fit their version of what I'm saying.

the forums are for feedback. I don't get paid by SOE to take feedback, and I'm not on call 24/7 to do so.

The huge footprint of these items is extremely annoying. Some changes I would really like to see...

1) Smaller footprint

2) Overhead placement (like normal structures) so that we can see where footprints collide

3) 24 hour duration

No decay + uber loot = /spit on crafters
