Thread: The never ending update..../sigh
Ichiir, we're still waiting as of 5:30 pm EST -- seven hours or so now. I'm getting very worried.
Ronny Starwalker, Mayor, Mos Arcanum, Chilastra
CS-Rodh: Looks like its still in the process of running the update. When it completes it should upgrade city then.
The previous CSR told me it was supposed to take 1-4 hours and that started at after 9AM EST which is 8 hours ago. If you look at my ticket, I was told to submit a ticket if it did not update in the proper time.
CS-Rodh: On avg yes, it takes about 1-4 hours, but if there are a number of cities going at same time it can make that time take longer. While its in the update phase there is nothing we can do to make it go faster.
So you are refusing to help even though instructed to request help? even though we are not the only city affected? even though this "lag" has never affected us before?
CS-Rodh: I am not refusing to help, I letting you know that while it is in update phase we are unable to do anything to speed the process up. Everything I can see in the debug it is still working correctly and is just taking longer than anticipated
Alright but the previous CSR stated that when it was past the update window that only then another CSR would manually update it.....it is past the window and you are the next CSR....
CS-Rodh: If once it completes the phase and doesn't upgrade the city I will be happy to look into the matter more and verify it. Once that is done we would be able to adjust the city level, but until the update is complete our hands are tied.
But it isn't completing the phase for us, nor many other cities in the galaxy and I can give you the URL of threads on the board where many other Mayors are having this problem.
CS-Rodh: You are misunderstanding his meaning, when he said past the window it was ment once the update is complete.
Okay....here are his words "some cities have to be updated manually by a CSR" what am I misunderstanding there?
CS-Rodh: That is correct, they get updated manually after the update process is complete if for some reason it didn't do it correctly during the update.
I'm sorry but what you are saying makes no sense to me, you are saying you update it after it has updated.....
CS-Rodh: What you need to understand is that while the update is happening we can't do anything to the city, doing so can cause the update to go incorrect and could very bad effect, an example of such effect as the city getting deleted. I would rather not see that happen.
I would rather that not happen either, and I'd rather like to know why 2 CSRs are teling me very different things.
I'd also rather like to know what to tell my citizens, and the other Mayors.
if the city never updates, what can a CSR do for us?
CS-Rodh: if it does come to that, a CSR will not be able to do anything for you other then pass on the issues to the dev team. We have exspressed to them already that many cities are taking longer than normal, and they have checked to see the process is going, its just going slow.
After this I said thank you and left because I had to leave, and when I went to update my fellow Mayors SWG decided to hang my system to a point I could not take time to resolve the issue. Upon logging on tonight, this was added to my ticket:
Just wanted to drop you an quick update. That we were able to finaly track down an issue on the server that was causing the updates to slow down to almost a halt. The dev team is working on the issues and we hope to see it finish it process soon. Sadly I don't have guess of when it will be corrected at this time.

Our town of Mos Nihil, Tatooine - Bria is also having this problem. 12+ hours old and no CSR response.
Our city seems to be shifting a few meters east for some reason too.
We had 55 atleast for the city lvl 4 upgrade. Still sitting at city lvl 3. No shuttleport.
We worked so hard too for this.
Mayor got an email indicating 5800xp from the votes and a congratulations on obtaining city lvl 4 status.
