Thread: So now, is a mayor's role now only decorator?
Neo, out of curiosity, did you have the necessary skill lvl for structures 1 week after you took office or not? If so then that is a certain plus and thanks for the post..
However the question still remains, why take the politician class if being a mayoronly gives you the ability to place/move certain structures that offerlittle more than astetic value and continually sap your citizens income? I knew many "mayors" before PC went live and they are now faced with a large use of skill points for a class that cant fight, cant craft, and cant roleplay anymore then they did before patch. Why bother?

So to answer your question, the mayors roll can be much like a GM in a standard role-playing campaign. There are features that are underused like chat, grouping on the friends list, the citizens email and the boards that can be used to manage interesting campaigns.

How has player cities and the politician prof. enhanced yours and others ablity to run such campaigns?
Granted, knowing exaclty where player cities are on the map and who to connact allows for more cordination between players and cities, but is that sufficient reason to invest all the necessary skill points needed into the politician prof.? Couldnt the same thing have been acomplished with more use of the forum boards and community interaction without PC/politician even being around?
I love how this issue has spilled over to the general discussion boards like a tidal wave....Yes the mayor is going to be impotent...yes its going to be a waste of skill points....yes player cities are now going to be just for looks, YES this can be stopped before that happens.

Honestly, that's how it seemed like it was going to be since the Devs tipped their hand on Test Center a while back. I have no idea how you think this can be stopped. If you're talking about /citywarn as if it were thesavior of cities, I think you're sadly mistaken. Being a Mayor seems like THE most boring, work-like profession in SWG, and I'd still be shocked if people were actually devoting their regular characters to the profession in a month or two. This is the bot account profession of choice.
