Thread: Thunderheart, how is this going to help Politician?
Morning /bump.
And to the above that mentioned it, yes, there is very little to go on beyond whatis quoted above. It seems pretty straight forward though. Typically the Devs have addedNPCs to enhance game play or address the lack of interest in quests, POIs or battlefields. This strikes me as a move to address a perceived balance issue, though far be it from me to guess what it could be. Are politicians advancing too rapidly? We are already limited in a number of respects by the number of residents we can obtain and keep, and elections are weekly, so from my own admittedly biased view point I do not see a balance issue there.
That said I do not think there are any moves made by the devs which are pure random griefs on a profession (though I am sure there are a number of Chefs, Pikeman, Carbineers, and a hoard of others who might respectfully disagree :smileywink
. But whilegetting anexplanation is likely a secondary concern next to addressing bugs and questions from yesterday's big patch, I do think it needs to be answered. Yes, I can see where a lot of folks would freak about their composite armor turning dung brown when it was bright red. Yup, I get it that people are annoyed about the starports looking like the NYC impound yard because folks can not correctly store their speeders. Even so, the intention to introduce an element into our profession that will take away XP from its players and could have unseen ramifications on the elections themselves needs to be discussed.
So, I'll just camp out here in the forums and wait for the answer. I got my lawn chair, my munchies, hot chocolate, laptop w/ wi-fi, rain gear, camping shower stall, Star Wars novels, and a port-a-potty, and I am good and ready to sit here for some long term waiting. Hell, maybe I should just go do this in front of the local cinema and tell folks I am in line for Episode III tickets. Only 18 months or so to go...

but you see.. that doesn't solve the "ghost issue" the ghost player don't play.. thus won't change their vote... only the live players will "change their vote" with these missions.. so.. it just screwing with the live people's vote.... right?
(now I got a headache hehe)
What we need is a way to mess with the votes of ghost citicezns. Change the votes of everyone that has not logged in in 14 days to a non-incumbent would be a great aproach. Make the vote changehappen during an update so no one notices until it is too late.
to all who have not done the math... if a novice politician goes into a city of 100 people and everyone of them votes for him/her everyweek and the populace does not change... it would take said politician 2 FULL months to master their proffesion...
In the interest of the game and the survivability of this proffesion, I highly doubt the devs would add something like this to hinder advnacement any further... there is way too much going on that most politicians complain about as is... like *plug* removing the new nerfs on the cities *end plug*

LMAO, this is too funny, so being a mayor myself, i see this as beneficial for us. see, our votes dont count towards our xp gain, so we can always get the "neat loot" and not worry about the vote. /sarcasm off i cant believe this, there are so many bugs in this game, and so many classes that blow, and this is what the Dev's sit around and think about???????? OMFG
and responding to the 2 month retort, i think he was saying that 2 months is a long time and that they shouldnt worry about mayors mastering the prof. i mean come on, im no power gamer, but anyone can master medic, doc and CM in less than 3 days. and for artisan classes, all u need is a good macro and resources, so i /agree with the devs not needing to worry about mayor advancement.

Mayor of Aetos Tagma
GASP... two whole months? Yah, why is this a problem, being a master isn't a race. and many politicians are in this for the long term. I don't see 2 months as an issue if you are going to be mayor a year. You can only use so much of those higher skills and only one at a time anyway and most are worthless as they are now. Two whole months. This is a non-issue.
ps. i'd vote against myself if i could for some Neat-O™ loot.

[Acroyear sits back in his lawn chair, cracks open a Jolt Cola two liter bottle and holds up his "DEVS PLEASE ANSWER THIS QUESTION" sign a little higher. A few more hours has gone by. He settles in for a nap, determined not to leave until there is some kind of answer.]
"No, lady, I'm not really waiting for the release of Episode III. That was a joke. Nothing to see here, just an avid SWG gamer waiting for an answer. Move along, move along..."
[Acroyear's slumbering form slumps just a little too far and he spills out of the lawn chair. He realizes its morning again, stretches, and takes a quick nature break. Upon returning, he takes out a jar of instant coffee crystals, spoons about five cups worth into his mouth, and washes it down with a liter of Jolt Cola. He re-adjusts his sign, sits back down, and waits some more.]
Good morning everyone!

[Acroyear slurps on a big gulp, pauses, sees no response yet, and gets back to slurping. A copy of The Last Command is open on his lap]
You know, the Thrawn trilogy is better the 14th time you read it than it is the 13th time you read it, but the 15th time it really gets a bit predictable... Gee, Thunderhart, I wish I had something else to read here... <hint hint>
