Thread: Existing Mayors need to re-register each session?
GreenMarine said that you have to re-register each session, and I haven't been able to talk him out of it. so.... if you want your votes, register. if you have a problem with your citizens not voting, drag their behind into the city hall. if they don't listen... you should consider finding some citizens that actually care about your city.

Well ask him what I am supposed to do while I spend a month in Europe over the summer? (well this one or next one haven't decided yet) Or need to take a massive chunk out of my play time due to final project due dates coming up? Shoudl I be forced to force someoneelsetaking up an interim mayor role for me since the game prevents me from auto-registering? It wouldn't be hard for me to do thanks to my great citizens but it wouldn't sit well with me having to pick someone to mind the gap because of a slight design flaw and not all towns have people that either have free skill points or can afford to lose some for months at a time. Out of everything that got put in that is my only problem with the patch...well that and the download time
Have you tried finding new residents lately? It's hard enough trying to convince people not to leave the game, let alone ocnvincing new ones to move in - especially the ones who joined on the back of JtL and who have no interest at all in the ground game and live in their ship.

I haven't had to. I have a fairly active citizen base, and we have a screening process for selecting citizens.
With JtL completely bypassing Talus on the travel map, the planet is dying slowly but surely and with it the player cities on the planet.
The problem is that we love the planet so much that we would rather leave the game than leave the planet. Its a pity that we have such a hard time convincing people to move there, especially with the problems that JtL (and now the politican changes) have brought us.

since JTL many people don t care about the ground anymore, all they are concerned of are their ships
sure they come back sooner or later but right now holding a city together is a major pain
and the large number of players leaving the game is also no help
and with the state as capped city it s nearly impossible. We are about 3k away from the next starport. Why? Cause we didn t wan t to be a district of theed as many other cities are. So when i talk to interested people usually the question occurs "Do you have a shuttle port" answer "sorry we are capped for about 8 months and not allowed to have one" after that 99% answer "Sorry not interested" or "sorry no shuttleport is bad for business"

Ok...direct question here....
what IF the existing mayor is unable to re-register & no one else does?? I'm checking on our very small city that exists mostly for a few of us to safely craft in. Our city update is in about a day & a half & our mayor is out of town for a few days. What will happen to the city if no one registers? Does it just default to the sitting mayor with no XP gain? or does the hall *poof*??

I am glad I am not the only Mayor in this game who has a selection process for new memebers and citizens.
We have a city on Talus (chilastra server)and a guild which are one - you cant join one without the other. Our city and guild has been going strong for 6 months and we have just 40 citizens. The basis for our city is unity and friendship - nothing else matters to us. Every single member is respected and valued.
I want to say to all u people who are complaining about this new patch if you have people in your city that actually care about you and the citythen there is no problem.
My city is a slow growing one but all the people in it are special and we are more like a family then a city / guild. All my friends are willing to travel to talus to vote for me each time they need too.

Sitting Mayor gets no xp for that election cycle except for the 750 per week base rate. But as there was no opposing candidate, the election win still defaults to the incumbent Mayor. Yes?Surely the City Hall doesn't auto-delete if there is no registered candidate each and every election cycle?!
from my understanding of the changes, the mayor stays if noone is registered.
