What I dont understand is throughout all of the notice and notes on this patch nothing was said about the current elections at hand. My election for my NEW city just started this week was to be up today and I had a novice poli with no xp place the city hall while my experienced Poli was finishing up business in our old city.

As of last night my experienced Poli had the election in the bag just to wake up this morning to find out now I have to wait 3 weeks to win the election so I can get mission terminals, a cloner placed, some trainers, a militia to help with the zoning (since that is basicly they are good for since /citywarn was taken away), a bank, a garage, and I wish for the Devs to tell me how without all this I am supposed to entice people to my city so in 4 or 5 weeks I could have a shuttle again?

For just mere hours I get screwed and have to wait 3 weeks. I think SOE should give me and my guild mates 3 free weeks of playing since you are taking up so much ofour time just to build a city.

These changes are only good for one reason. To oust players that dont play anymore from office. Sure doesnt help the ones in office at this time. And if I read this right, You get a bonus of 750xp for just being in office. Well that doesnt account for the 2k or 3k and even 5k mayors get a week from their elections. How in gods name can you offset that? Lets also see if I got this right. Candidates still only get xp from the votes they receive and yet they only get the xp every 3 weeks now. Also you thought you would be nice to triple the xp but also triple the time so where is the gain there? You would get the same amount of xp each week but now have to wait 3 weeks for it.

I submitted ticket#2689936 and on my alt #2690216. I wish for a DEV to look at these tickets and answer them instead of a CSR who cannot do anything about it without the Dev's Consent anyhow. If I have to I will have all my citizens and guild mates submit tickets to get this looked at. I for one who have mastered Poli twice before do not like these changes

that s what i ve been complaining about for days, new politicians in new cities are just f***** , they can t do anythign for 3 weeks except paying for a useless city hall

you can submit hundreds of tickets but no one will listen because

a) CSR have no idea about cities anyway

b) nobody cares about the troubles of a minority called politicians in this game

Wow, my city maintenance is around $750k a week.

Oh and lets say you have 90+ citizens and they are soooooo used to not having to vote and you take a two week vacation so you dont get the Reminder Email out to them and by week 3 five of your citizens remembered to vote and a hostile group gets their candidate in on week one and get six votes to thier newb poli...guess what? that city you started on day one and have worked soooo hard to grow for over a year now is not your responsibility anymore. (I hope this is only a nightmare and does not come to fruition)

well again that would be a worst case senerio...but it could happen and with the new rules...its totaly possable.

my point was that a new mayor of a new city cannot offer anything for the first 3 weeks
no terminals, no trainers,...... and has always to be there to grant zoning himself

till now we had a steady flow of developement
now we ll make jumps every3 weeks

I'm sorry. Maybe you missed part of my point hun.

"One thing that has plagued many servers is the large number of shake-and-bake cities that pop up over night, explode in size, take up space and numbers on each planet/server's alloted cities (Last I checked, Naboo and Corellia were full in Gorath for some time), and generally cause a mess when a majority of them became ghost towns.

Now building a city is a more serious investment of time and energy. That's a wonderful thing. Hopefully, only the truly serious and dedicated groups will undertake this project, and that will lessen the aforementioned problem of shake-and-bake cities."

A jump every three weeks is exactly (IMO) what is needed. Yes, in ways, it "sucks", but it should likely solve the aforementioned problem. If you're players are dedicated, they'll wait. If not, well....

Now that I think about it, this actually makes Politician like some other professions. The benefit of profession shouldn't come over night. Doctors, Shipwrights, TK Artists, and many others have to work for some time to see the full benefits of Master. The benefit of Politician is a large city, with lots of perks. Now, a huge benefit like that has to be earned, over time. Just the thing I think.

I see alot of people worried about the possiblity of a hostile takeover. This is a concern of mine too, but, handled properly, it shouldn't be too problematic. Just make sure you stay in touch with your citizens (which is a mayor's job), be aware of who is moving in (or being absorbed into) your city, and, if you have to go on vacation, make sure you have someone watching over things (militia perhaps) and reminding people to vote.

In short, a city will now be a much more involved project, which will require true devotion from the mayor, as well as the citizens. It might be a headache, and there are some potential griefing issues (absorbed homes=hostile takeover), but all in all, I honestly don't see what everyone is screaming so loudly. And, before you respond to this with flames, or more of the same complaints, please, go back and read all of my responses in this thread.

^_^ Thanks.
