Wow Tiaga. I'm not a programmer at all and felt a player city tool needed to be made so I made it simply in Excel. Your tool sounds like it will be much better though!

Do you need any help?

and when do you think you'll be able to release this?

I probably can't help out that much with actuall programming or design but at least I could advertise it for you

Very nice, except as told to me by GreenMarine himself and supported bya city planning website, medium gardens are 5x5, and large gardens are 7x7.

Tiaga, Would you be able to e-mail me an example of what you mean? I'd work on getting tatooine structures in place probably.

Ticktock, thanks I'll try and change that ASAP. sorry!

This is great, thanks.

Corellian City Halls are 7x9, not 7x10. I'll take some screenshots int he next couple days and mail them to you to confrim. The entrance is along the shorter side.

It might be helpful to add an indicator of which side is the front of the building.

http://www.speakeasy.org/~inkling/cityplanning2f.gifThis is a gif of the photoshop document I've been using to plan Elysium. Each structure is a separate layer which can be moved around. Originally, I hade meticulously drwan out the house shapes and fit them over the rectilinear footprint markers, but a hard drive failure lost all that data. You could hide the footprints so as to see jsut the structures. Here's a still of that, from before I lost it: http://www.speakeasy.org/~inkling/map_no_background.jpg

I used Microsoft Visio to create mine. Its not to scale yet but it was a great tool to use.

The tool lists the theatre as 11x11. I've found a number of posts indicating that it's 5x5, which is supported by the screenshorts and overheads.

I also use MS Visio to plan out our city. Everything on the layout is to scale. Since you can make stencils, you only need to make a structure once. After that, you can drag and drop or cut and paste them into your plan. Here's what we looked like a few days ago:

I think mine looks better.

But you might want to check your city.. The center has drifted off your city hall. Last I checked it was at the front not the center. Look at this map of Temenos Island that shows our city's drift. Yours has drifted about 3x that, maybe more now.

Hey Tiaga,

Yeah, you might be right there. I put the radii from the center of city hall when I believe it's measured from the city hall terminal like all the other structures. I'll just have to move my radii.

BTW, I like your map, Tiaga. Nice and colorful.

Can I borrow a cup of sugar sometime, neighbor?

Well, the city hall terminal says that the front steps are the center of town . Thanks for the heads up, I was off by about 10m. I just shifted my radii.

I'd like to add that I've found something quite useful.

Resize the little overhead map in the bottom left. Increase your terrain detail and terrain detail draw distance in options and the entire map at 1024 diameter will appear crystal clear with terrain and everything. Our city location has several plateau regions and valleys.

If you stand 150m from your city hall waypoint and make a waypoint, you can see the waypoint triangle on the overhead map. Then use the ctrl+m map to see your waypoints also with green of buildings overlayed.

I then brought in a series of screen shots of the overlayed buildings with waypoints and scaled them in photoshop to match the orrientation and size of the waypoints displayed on the overhead map. All it was was some scaling and rotating of screenshots to make this work.

It gave me a feel for how what fits on what terrain. And the image looks really cool to boot.

Actually the structure management terminal is never the measurement of a building's location. It is in fact supposed to be the center of the city hall. However, the coordinates are shifting. When I went to look at your city a few days ago the center was still inside the city hall but against the front wall. If you look again at that map, you'll see 2 sets of rings, the "correct" one is the gradiant rings, the "shifted" one is the lines over everything.
