Were they listening to us before?
Let me see...
1. Sales taxes have been broken for months now with no hope of them being fixed anytime soon.
2. Cloning station fees still all go to the game instead of the city.
3. Trainer fees still all go to the game instead of the city
4. We cannot in any manner have griefers that might be within our city walls move out - infact
our city had a member die in real life and we couldn't even get his house removed by the dev
even though it was painful for many of us that knew him rl to see his house there everyday. We
waited 2 months until his paid subscription was over and then house ran out of maintenance.
5. City Theater - a pretty building but according to entertainers pretty much useless - bugged -
won't allow them to perform healing or buffing from the stage.
6. No internal way to track finances of the city - ie, how much revenue is being generated by the shuttle
How much is being generated by the garage.
These listed issues have been discussed since the inception of player cities with no changes at all - yes ok they dropped skill points- that is a mixed blessing as we know. I personally agree with those that say
if as a mayor you are doing a good job for your city - you will have a hard time getting voted out.
But to to say they will stop listening to us because we use no more skillpoints - well - they would have had to listen to us to begin with.

This isn't a bug. Its "thought of by the game" as outdoors and thus no buffs. Its the same issue as rooftops and exterior walkways.

First of all I would challenge anyone to run against me in my city and see if they could get even one vote. I personally know every single person in my city, as I was friends with them before they moved there or they are good friends with one of the citizens already there and I spent a lot of time getting to know them before clearing them to move in. If your city was created and grown properly you shouldn't have any fears of someone taking over. You still have to win the election to be Mayor and if your city is run well and the citizens needs are met, they will not be too keen on letting some noob polotician take over and possibly screw up a good thing. If you have an unreasonable fear of a hostile takeover then it's probably due to some insecurity about your own abilities to run the city.
And as for the building maint thing that is going to grind all our cities into the ground, I say good. If your city will crumble to the ground simply because money will be taken out of their bank to keep their house standing then you don't have much of a city to begin with. You most likely recruited every Joe Blow that walked by in the starport and your city probably closely resembles a ghost town anyway. There are too many ghost towns taking up slots that could be used by viable cities as it is, if a few of them go Kapoot, that's fine by me, mine will still be standing and thriving.
And as for people not listening to you anymore because it doesn't take skill points. I'm not sure I follow you there. What were you telling them before that they will not listen to you now? Personally I don't tell my citizens anything. I inform them of any changes that have been made such as additional structures, trainers, etc. I send out invitations to player events that are held in the cities cantina. Sometimes I may request someone move a structure so that we can lay out the city a little better. I can't see either of these issues affecting that in the least. If someone thinks they can run my city better than me and they get the support from the citizens to do it, more power to them I hope they can do it better. The only reason I'm the Mayor is because I think I can do a good job and I want to make the city the best it can be for my people. I have no desire to have a strangle hold on the office and just run it the way I see fit,if enough people are unhappy enough with your performace to elect someone else they think may be able to do better then move on and spend more time on your other professions. Personally I have been a Mayor for a long time, and even though it would be somewhat sad in some respects to be ousted from power I would take it in stride and enjoy the extra time I have to do other things. If the new Mayor was doing a horrible job there would soon be an outcry to get me back in office, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

If yougrant them zoningrights(only way they can register to run and you challenged them) they will get at least 1 vote ... their own ... so you allready lost that bet

The concern is not about the citizens not listening to you anymore, but the devs not putting any more effort into fixing those bugs or even working on improvements to make our gameplay more fun and more tailored to the needs of a mayor simply because it doesn't cost anything anymore systemwise.

well if your worried about the devs not listening anymore then you have already lost that bet. They have never listened to anyone about any profession before. They just go along doing it the way they want and hold out their hand to collect our money.

In order for someone to get the title of Warmaster, they will need to remember to run again each week, probably only get their own vote, and voila they are 0400 Politician 185 weeks later.
That's over three years. This has to be one of the sillier things about which to be upset.
