Ok, I asked in the question thread and got no response so since we are talking about cantinas here......how many lots will they take??? And is it true that only a master dancer or master musician can drop it????

Also if BF and mind wounds can be healed in a player owned hospital what are people going to go to cantinas for? I am very upset by this as I planned to drop and help run the cantina for our city when it comes live.

a cantina runs 21k a week and thats part of the city budget, i really am out of the loop if thats the case heck with that! they need to make the cantina just be a large house that looks cool, same with med center. no stupid fees, otherwise a well placed series of vendors in a large house can make it a med center/cantina easier than 21k per week.. great point hope they address this (oh and a +10 healing in the house still isnt worth it...)

Oh, great, more power gamers. Just what this frickin' game needs.

Hey, as long as we're talking pure strategy here, why not eliminate clothes from the game? I mean, what do they do, other than make us cause hard-earned resources that could be spent on weapons and powerups? And why the different aesthetic implements? Isn't that a waste of time? Let's just make all the buildings cubic blocks with square rooms, with price based purely on size and amount of storage space - that way we're not wasting our precious space on things like pleasing and "realistic" (jeez, if I wanted realism I'd go to a REAL pub) atmospheres. Let's get rid of all the social /verbs, those are a waste of time. And get rid of the Image Designer profession! Why would you ever PAY someone to change your avatar's HAIR unless it makes you better in combat? In fact, in order to concentrate on what the gamers REALLY want, and not on the "vision" of the developers, let's get rid of all music and graphics in the game, and focus entirely on combat, economy, and statistics - turn all the characters into a bunch of green dots running around on the screen, shooting blue dots at the red dots to destroy them. /end sarcasm

People like this make me sick. Maybe I'm exagerating a little bit, but seriously, some of the people here need to go play DOOM or something. This is a MMORPG - that RPG stands for Role-Playing Game. That means you play the role of someone in an imaginary universe - you do what they would do if they were real; not what they would do if they were a character in a video game.

I realize that I can't dictate how people get enjoyment out of the game, but I ask that people consider whether this is really the game for them. Just don't try to make them change it from what it's supposed to be.

Personally I use the roleplay argument as a reason NOT to use a cantina. No thought went into the usefullnes of the strucutre. You have:

- No changing/dressing rooms

- No private lounges

-No place for a "kitchen"

- Honestly, a pretty small stage. You couldn't do lyrical on that stage, and would have to be careful with formal. Alright, a cantina is more of a popular/exotic style place..

I'll be hopping onto test tonight to look at the theater in QAVille.

Anotherreason why you would want a cantina and the medical facility is to receive the bonus to healing that these structures will provide when the mayor creates an entertainment and medical district in the town. Those bonuses will probably only be those specific structures in that district - not player houses (those that don't know this, it is a 10% bonus to entertainment healing and medical healing; granted at Civic Policy III for politicians). So healing should still be allowed in player homes; you just won't get the bonus.

Well, the advantage of a cantina, is first that it's a specific building. You won't have to examine all the houses to get to know which of those IS the cantina. Sure, regulars would know, but how about others?

First off:

I don't see how recommending a single structure that would cost LESS to operate / maintain is something a "Power Gamer" would take advantge of - in fact, quite the opposite. It's helping the person who ISN'T a power gamer with millions of credits to spare realize there's a better way to utilize their money to make their small city work. Please return your soapbox to its original upright position.

Second off:

I'm not so sure players are that dense that they couldn't figure out where a Medical Center / Cantina building is in a city as odds are they're going to be clustered all in the same area. Sure some cities might be silly and plop their buildings all over the place, but I figure many will be organized, coordinated and laid out in a way that someone will probably fly into a shuttleport, see the City Hall, a Cloning Center and the major Healing/Mercantile structures within eyeshot.

As I've said many times - if you arrive in a city and you see 5-15 people congregating in a single large building with a bunch of white arrows to indicate NPC vendors - I think generally you're going to assume that's the place to be. Given that entertainers can /register with the global map even without the need for a Cantina - I'm still not convinced.

Third off:

Creative Design of the building? Amen. I agree little "backstage" areas, a "kitchen" for Chefs, etc.. those are very creative ideas that could've easily been setup with an inventive building layout. We know the Devs are capable of creative Building Layouts - the Tatooine PA Hall remains one of my favorites.

I'm just disappointed. What looked to be a semi-decent "entrepreneurial" potential for Doctors and Entertainers has really become little more than an overpriced cash-sink.. and I've yet to see a convincing argument to change that view.

Ok I have a hospital on Test Center, sure it costs money but money is so easy to get, what are you hoarding it for? I really like the new building, it shows up from a large distance away (strobe lights on top enhance the effect). People are drawn to it and the auto heal feature is great (you get zero autoheal in a house), also my vendor is there, I make a good living off the vendor and (when buffs are fixed on test center) have a central well know place for all healing/buffs in the region. Add the plantary map feature (so people know a doctor is actually in the hospital, and not that just because your vendors show up on the mapa doc may or may not actually be on duty). And while the Tatooine hospital looks ugly (IMHO) the Corellia hospital looks great. The profit off a singlecrate of stim b's pays for the hospital maintaince with ease for 2 days at my prices. Plus do we really want all our citys to be just a city hall and houses?

The simple fact that the building is called "Cantina" guarantees it is the first place people look for E-Healing - assuming you're not in competition with another cantina, of course! The registration/world map stuff is another bonus.

Look at Hotels and Theatres in the game. In theory, ehealing happens there, too. How often do you see it going on (compared to cantinas) - at least in cities that have both? As a musician/dancer since the start of the game, I've heard a hundred times or more "hey, let's all just perform in the theatre". What we invariably find is that performing in any building but the "Cantina", we can draw only our most regular customers plus maybe one or two others for the novelty of it. Invariably, when we come back to the cantina, there's a crowd twice as large with one or two novice ents or AFK-bots healing them. Scheduled shows are different, but you can't have scheduled shows constantly.

The building stands out as well, from what I've heard of it.

As for other questions, I believe it is 2800/day, which is 19.6k/week. I believe it takes 7 lots. It can only be placed by a Master Musician, Master Dancer, or Master Chef.
