Thread: Politician Round Table Discussion, Week of 7.29.2005 Financial Gain and Taxes
We currently use only the Travel (Shuttleport) Fee and the Garage Fee, the rest of the city cost is paid by donations, mostly made by the crafters and merchants.
Personally I think that they should completely remove the Income Tax and replace it with an adjustable percentage (0-5%) given to the city buy using the Skill Trainers and Mission Terminals, Cloning Facility (maybe even variable options according to the city specialisation).
The property Tax should stay as is (though I do not use it at all)
The Sales Tax should be fixed as it is normally the Merchants who benifit the most from the city facilities and who would also most likely willingly support a city (especially in a good location and/or witha shuttle port.

Taxing issues should truly be corrected asap..
And what comes to the guild/town hunts etc. just name one rl city that has to do anything like this?
Not a single one.. Since all of them get paid by various taxes.
For far too long we have had to finance our towns by contributing our own hard earned credits by donations
to the city treasury (i'm quite sure that none of us would so this in rl)..
But on the other hand, most of the players are so ruthlessly solemn in their habits that most would probably
detest anymore taxation of any sort, which is sad really..
Even in our town there are only so many contributors, and some who won't do anything for the town (they are
hardly never in the town anyways). But then to our luck we have had some new players who would very much
like to contribute but cannot since they have no means of making creds yet ![]()

Bottom line is that mayors should have the ability to choose from a large variety of taxes in order to keep the
town up and running..
