Why do you need a larger cash flow?

I'm not the mayor of my city, I'm just his PA.

But I was thinking today ,when I saw the sad state the city bank account was in, wouldnt income tax be fairer if it was actually income based?

2k to a millionaire is nothing, but 2k to someone with 10k is a fortune.

Wouldnt it be easy to write an algorithm that looks at a persons bank account and subtracts 2% from it and donates itit the city instead of everyone paying 2k (max income tax)?

I just wondered what other people's thoughts where on this.

But then it wouldn't be taxing income, but instead would be taxing net worth... not sure that's any more fair really...

The problem with a true income tax would be tracking the income of every player over the course of any given week... it's doable via an appropriately strcutured DB, but it could be slightly CPU intensive come city update time... and even this wouldn't necessarily track the expenditures of player's and whatnot... overall a true income tax is almost impossible...

However, a net worth tax might be more fair than a flat rate per week... at least taxing the richer players more than the very poor... Of course, even this is heavily debatable.

They can make the income tax the same way as property tax or the sales tax. Substract the percentage directly when they get a banktip or a mission payment. This doesn't need a lot of adjustements to the DB (database not death blow ) and this also spread out the cpu usage and not each week.

Or perhaps rename the income tax to city tax. Or just rename it and introduce the first one also

Good idea, but there should be a max limit the rich guy would be able to pay... Like for example max 20k.

The problem of trackingincome was one that we had thought about in my city.... but realistically there is already a sales tax so that deals with merchant income.

maybe if it looked at the bank account and said

less than 10k - tax 200cr

less than 50k - Tax 2000cr

Less than 100k - Tax 5k

Less than 200k - Tax 10k

Less than 500k - Tax 15k

Less than 750l - Tax 20k

Les than 1 mill - Tax 25k

and so on......

It doesnt seem that hard to me.. but then again i havnt looked at SWGs coding and I dont know how complex the sub routines actually are... it's amazing how easy it is to screw up an entire programme by adding a few lines of code trying to do somethign simple
