Thread: FanFest Update: Politician + Player Cities panel
however, I got to talk to someone from lucas art later that evening (beats me if I remember who it was), and he said that the chances are small due to continuity to the star wars universe. although these are not official dev quotes, I figured I'll let you guys know what I heard.
edit: btw, Kirk black is Runesaber.

*looks at all the Jedi running around (between Ep 4 and 5) and forming in a Jedi Council*Sad, sad ... I long back for the times when Holocron posted things like "give the players the tools to create their own worlds" (such as a senate would be) ... to bad that jedi sells better - and therefore apparantly doesn't need a continuity check
well, judging from some of the responses I've heard in the fanfest (fortunately not in the politician panel but the entertainer one), some of the correspondents have an uphill battle in front of them.
be happy that we're actually one of the professions that will receive goodies. we can't get everything at once, ya know?

My biggest concern is that Green Marine is also the Smuggler dev and they're making a whole lot of pretty justified noise right about now. We're not front of the queue for his attentions.

actually, GreenMarine is responsible for 8 different profs (he needs a raise!), but I've had a chat with him, and he's pretty excited about the politician stuff. I'll be bugging him for you guys

Grand. If you could get him in here to let us know where we're headed that'd be neat. While we might be few, we're the elected representatives of a large proportion of the population, and we need to know where we stand with regards to the services we can offer our constituents.
hon, that's my job... bring our issues to the devs so they know what we think, since (unfortunately) they don't have time to poll and address the forums themselves. as far as I know he's still working on JTL, and the earliest and only major changes we'll have is from the GCW revamp. they have addressed some of our issues at the fanfest, so if you have additional questions, please vote in our "next 19 questions" thread so I can bring them up in the correspondent forum.

There was much mention of eminent domain, particularly as a perk that could be rewarded to cities that had existed for a period oftime. The implication was the period would be short - two months was mentioned at one point. However, I got the impression that this is still "in concept" andtherefore we won't see it for a while.
Maybe I missed this term when it was being thrown around, but what exactly do you mean by "eminent domain" ? Sounds... interesting...

Imminent Domain is the right of government to claim land in/near their boundaries for their own purposes.
In the US, this specifically also carries a commensuate compensation for the value of the land in such instances.
In this reference, it refers to the ability request of letting mayors 'fix' problems with the city in question from griefers [players who plop down buildings before a growth period to intentionally disrupt the 'city plan' layout] and MIA players [if said city plan changes for instance]. The problem here is that I don't see compensation as a likly occurance, except maybe have it force-redeed the structure in question to the original owner.
