I still think that there should be a politician mission terminal, and this could be the way politicians make money. Some of the following types of missions could be examples of things they could do:

1.) Diplomacy missions: basically you have to meet with an NPC in another city or even on another planet. You will be able to bring the NPC gifts, and depending on the species they are and the planet they are on and people they represent, the gift youll want to have a crafter make for you may vary. Basically, you have to talk to this person, and navigate through a conversation string successfully. Depending on how much they enjoy your gift, it will allow you 1 or more misteps in the conversation, and still give you a way to get back on the right track for diplomacy. Rewards for diplomacy could be credits, or perhaps even provide your city with a specific additional specialization for that week free of charge. (eg; if you do a diplomacy mission with a mining guild, you might get resource rich for a week for free)

2.) Natural Disaster Missions: these missions could be a great source of income in the form of "government aid/relief money". You could take a mission for say, a flood. there would be some way to fight this disaster, maybe give artisans the ability to make sandbags or something. if you successfully stave off the disaster, it could mean a bunch of credits for your town. If you do not suceed in beating the disaster, then perhaps the condition on your city hall goes down, or some of your decorations get washed away, or some such thing.

3.) Campaign Trail Missions: These missions could be similar to fundraiser type events that politicians hold when on the campaign trail to raise money to run their campaign. Perhaps it allows the politician to throw a party in a theater or cantina or city hall or pa hall or whatever. It would generate a bunch of NPCs to inhabit the party, but there would be requirements of certain amounts of seating and food availability and entertainment. Assuming the mayor can organize all of this, based on how well they stock the party, they will generate X credits from the fundraiser event. The advantage here is that these party events could also be attended by real players, and provide some interesting dynamic content for player cities. These can also take place at various POIs perhaps.

I know that all these mission types would require a chunk of new code, but think how much they could add to the experience of being a politician, or even just being a member of a player city. Oh yeah, and politicians would get to make money this way.

maybe we will havea bigger role in SE?

Even Star Wars movies dont like NGE....

Yoda: Twisted by the Dark Side, young SWG has become. The game we played, gone it is... Consumed by the NGE.
Mace Windu(us): The customers will decide SWG's fate.
Supreme Chancellor(Devs): I *am* the customers!
Tiggs wrote: NGE is here to stay.
C-3PO: [walking away] I feel so helpless.
"And so it is" said Bail Organa as he left.
So this is how liberty is crushed...... by the sound of Tiggs Paws.
"NGE your breaking my heart!" Cries Amidala

I'll miss being a TK

I oppose the NGE and support Holocron Shug and Q-3p0's dream of the way SWG should be!

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, ?How can we do this and not make another EQ?? We didn?t want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we?ve created a system to make that happen."

I'm all for a bigger role in the SE. Perhaps the perk of captaining Capitol ships? heh

If the money were to come "from nowhere" i'm all for a paycheck. I don't want my city or residents to cover my pay though. Put me on whichever side of the debate thatis applicable I gotta get back to work.

Yah is it possible we only get as much money as people throw away? For example someone goes to a merchant trainer pays 6k, so a mayor will get at least 6k. i say this because i understand ur inflation concerns

I agree 100%. I love working with the people in my city on a day to day basis. In fact, I spend so much time in the city that I have no other profession other than politician. And it does give me great pride. It would be great to be able to make some extra cash from that profession though. The money would be guaranteed to go back into the city anyways At least that way I would feel like I was helping contribute to the monetary costs of city life. After all, money makes the world go round.

I honestly say that I can't talk of hard work to my citizens, just to turn around and empty the coffers of their generous donations. While I do see the problem of the inflated economy from generating funds to pay a mayor, I dont think that it would be affected in a way that would be noticable. The situation is bad enough as it is to not allow good mayors to have a reward other than pride.

TBH ive been a mayor on Chimaera ever since the launch of city halls. As one of the first 3 cities on naboo i love the job. Ok it might take up to many skill points but in honesty im really gonna miss being mayor when i hand over the job to my ingame brother who wishes to seek a new challenge. Plus the fact that he has been 3rd in command since the start. He is well suited for the job and is well respected as a person.

Ok a salary mite have been a wee bonus - but nah as stated above in other posts - id rather be respected and voted for than have a salary. All the money that I and my council raise goes to the city and not into our pockets.
