Guys, You must understand! CSR's WILL NOT help any player made decision or action taken no matter how destructive it will be. Like you make a Mistake and destroy something by accident they will not replace it.. DON'T ASK! They are there to help with Game glitches.

Umm, CSR's are not there just to fix game glitches. They are also supposed to respond to harassment and griefing (which I consider this case to be). And sometimes, you actually find some CSR's that actually help and rectify the situation. And onvery rare occasions they help with deletions and accidents. I knew a person who accidentally released a whole branch of his jedi skills anda CSR gave them back. But, first you actually have to have them read your tickets. Then they have to understand what you write. Then they have to be willing to help (the hardest part). And yes there have been cases in the past where cities have been restored.

From what I read He Placed the City Hall and founded the city and became the Cites Mayor. I myself and I bet many others feel the same way, IfI go thru the trouble to place a City hall and help the city grow to have someone come along and try to take the city away from me. I would do all I can to prevent it. But, he took the most direct course of action. I would of tried to kick you out of the city like remove you from militia or remove your citizenship that would remove your vote from the register hench I would of continued being Mayor. I would of invite some of my friend into the city to give me there votes to push me over the top.. there are many ways to fight it.

The city does not belong to just one person. I don't know of any cities without citizens. Every citizen has astake in it. They pay taxes and in this case they did much of the recruiting to get the population up. We did start a new city and the mayor is a normal person and will allow others to run for mayor. He also understands that it is a joint venture. If you are a mayor a city on your server, I feel sorry for your citizens if you think it is "your" city.

Now, I dont know what happened between Your Mayor and you. As you guys said, you saw this coming and knew it was going to happen. You guys should just left and started a new City somewhere elseor work it out with him. But, You went behind his back and tried to take the city from him and you should accept the consequences of your actions.

You are right. You don't know what happened. There was no going behind anyones back. The game notes state that all citizens have the "right" to run for mayor. Unfortunately, SOE made the mistake of programing a provision for this right to be completely bypassed by selfish, power-hungry, spitefulchildren.

Oh where to start. I really don't think that players fully appreciate what a mayor puts into a city. I know for myself, I purchased all the civic structures and homes for our city. I decorated everything out of my own pocket. I hold monthly charity hunts to help pay for the maintenance to keep our city running, and have never felt right about using the treasury for anything but that. I spend hours on the forums looking for new ideas, and new ways to run our city more efficiently. It is a hard thing when you have a challenger in the race for mayor. You definitely feel unappreciated.

Having said that, I have always let our elections run where I have had challengers. If I had been voted out, I would assume that our population was looking for a change. Why fight that? I have loved being mayor and have enjoyed creating a beautiful place for our citizens to live. Being mayor is about leading your city, helping your citizens enjoy the game to the fullest. If your citizens feel a change in leadership is needed, let it happen. Destroying a city because you can't handle losing is the cowards way out. I'm so sorry that this has happened to your city. My best suggestion is to gather the remaining members of your lost city and moving to a new location. This time make sure the person who sets down that city hall is the best choice as your new leader. And regrow. It can be so much fun and much more rewarding than having a city full of empty homes

Things like this just add to my thoughts of having an "assistant mayor". If that was to come around, then it could be implemented that both have to agree to destroy city hall. Or move structures or something.

Yeah but there are a lot of cities where the mayor doesn't fully fund the city, where players have purchased deeds or have donated deeds. However, a lot of these mayors still feel the city belongs to them.

This is the Mayoral attitude I simply detest. You act like you own the place and yet you invite others to come in and help out with the towns growth but whena citizenexcercises their RIGHT to run for the top office, you getoffended about it?

MAYORS DO NOT OWN THE CITY..regardless of how much money you poured down that black hole called 'Donate'. You should be PROUD if someone else takes office and keep the city you built operating, and if you lost, there is a reason and your simple funding of the city is irrelevant. You lost because the people thought someone else could do a better job than you, and your pouring money into the treasury does not mean squat in that regards.

If you want to be a tinpot dictator, then form a PA, then you can have your total control and boot people at whim but I have no use for this thinking in a civic environment.

You have got in your head the citizens are there to serve you, and that is so wrong. You are there to serve the citizens.

Again, mayors should be PROUD that they have citizens who care enough to run the town, and you should not fear competition. IF you are doing a good job you will win.

But to simply expect to be the defacto mayor and lay around collecting votes is wrongminded. That is good in Western movies where the rich bad guy owns the town and everyone who livesin fear of his hired thugs.

As a Mayor, you have no right to make your citizens live in fear of you having a temper tantrum over losing the Mayorship, and if you are the type to delete the town rather than face loss, you should be tarred and feathered and run out of town.

Now, I dont know what happened between Your Mayor and you. As you guys said, you saw this coming and knew it was going to happen. This is statement makes me mad. Running in a public election is NOT going behind anyones back, and if they were forced to run a new candidate, it means the old mayor was defective! Dont be excusingcrappy mayors by blaming the citizens for voting him out.

Again, claiming ownership of a town to keep mayor is just an excuse used by crappy mayors to cling to whatever power they think they have.

Yup, sorry this happened to you but by the sounds of it your better off without him/her and at last now you can start a fresh with all your own ideas and create a nice shiney new town that no doubt will grow and do very well.

Good luck to you!

You might think i am a destable mayor but when my city was so full of dead houses that we could no longer expand "seriously" and we only had 4 people that were active, i did destroy the town, gave the citizens advance notice, the location of a new town that the people still there could move to, and financial help for house maint and inventory help to help with the move. (btw i am not the guy from this post however.)

It is my job to make sure there IS a future for the town, when we hold town meetings and 2 people come to vote on the issues, and vote for a moving ordinance, i comply. If there was any hope for the town to continue i would have let my 2nd in command take it but in some situations you just have to move on

This happened to our city, our mayor deleted the city a couple of days before the end he was loosing 6 to 1 I think.... I tried to rebuild couldnt get enough to declare, and my city poofed. Someone else is trying to rebuidl currently not goign well at all... Just barely has enough citizens to stay alive and the whole city plan is out of whack. Im hopefulyl going to start a new city somewhere else, but there are some extreme cases where I could see where the mayor feels he was cheated out of an election, but not many and destroying the city hall doenst have a valid excuse.

I agree, if i am losing an election fairly i will step down but if one of my ex guild members is bribing my citizens to vote for him so he can control the town and then destroy it out of spite,im not going to let that happen. Thank goodness my citizens weren't stupid enough to vote against me.

personally i am always glad to see cities supported by ghost houses fall. I run the second oldest city on ahazi. 2nd by like 2 min. but anywayi see old cities long dead that have less active people than a hillbilly has teeth. and yet they have tons of old run down houses from long gone players or the countless lot/citizen swaps so they can keep thier rank and shuttle for the very few that live there while newer cities that could be thriving are held back from ever growing due to the city caps.

personally i can not wait to see the character wipe they promised us a year ago now. god with a time table like that you'd think it was a fix for a commando or smuggler.

as for your city hall good luck. we once tried long ago to start a second guild ran city on another planet but two attempts at placing city halls were faulted by server lag that kept the city hall from ever appearing on screen for anyone. the hall never actually built all we saw was the construction marker and a message saying we were in the new town. but when we would try and place houses we couldn't declare. forogt the message we got. well anyways both times the csr's were adament that they can not replace structures. so we finally gave up on it.

All I can say is HECK YEAH! well said. Ghost cities need to go poof.
