I agree. politician shouldn't be a skillpoints based profession.... EVERYBODY should automatically be a politician.

Get the hell outta here. If you want to be a politician and enjoy it's rp value you wouldn't complain. Hell if I wasn't on a journey I'd keep master poli, as it is, I am and there fore will only keep what I need to keep until I complete my journey, then I'll reaquire my skills

Actually, I don't mind that politician takes skill points. Everything takes skill points. But I just wish Novice didn't cost 15 points. It's not exactly a "starter" profession when it requires AP to train. I would much rather see this set up as an elite profession with no prerequisites (i.e. start at 6, and work your way up to 1). I think that would probably get more people to try it out as a real profession, rather than a holo-grinding profession.

Well I haven't mastered it yet but I plan on keeping it when I do. Not for any truly meaningful purpose but I like the titles. I'm an architecture major so Urban Planner fits me nicely, Warmaster is just fun to use in PvP, Statesman works well when I'm doing anything formal or attending an event (I wear a suit most of the time). I may drop the accountant since that really doesn't seem to interestingI guess...but besides that. Plus it can work as a placeholder for piloting skills if they require me to drop some stuff. Rather then a painfully difficult choice of what to lose it's pretty much a given.

And honestly, I would love for anyone to give me a better reason to keep master or near master. They don't help you one bit with managing a city. You can be the best of mayors and the worst of politicians at the same time...so why be the best of politicians? Beyond RP or stylized (like mine) reasons.

I am new to the politician profession, as is everyone else who lives in my city. The one thing I find rediculous is the inability to arrange taxes with a city rank of 1. I remember when the game first launched how fully loaded the servers were, all but maybe 3 had a meduim load while those 3 had a heavy. Now, with the growing number of people closing their accounts due to the uncreativity with the GCW and gross amounts of bugs in the game, it is hard to find 20 people to join my city who either are not already in a city or have no intentions of living in one. In the last few weeks I've been a politician I'd have to say, what in the hell is the point in having a player city in teh first place? So what you can place down a garden or fountain. So what you can put down a shuttleport (only at rank 4, limited to 10? per planet). How exactly is this effecting the GCW? How is this allowing us to participate in any of the game's storylines? The only thing I've seen in this game that have a little imagination are the player events! But these events are limited to the developers lack of imagination and creativity. In responce to this threads question, "Is Politician a waste of skill points?", I say yes. You can't find a more useless profession than a politician!

Down with the Nerf Gods!

Dear SOE, LA, or whoever actually cares about this game,
Please give those monkeys you have trapped in the windowless dungeon that are hard at work programming this game their crack pipes back. It's obvious that making them program while going "cold turkey" is not going to improve this sh!tfest of a game.
