Btw, Lets say the mayor of your city is a Master Architect and he makes the grand hall. The Town hall shuld cost 1 lot and the architect places it. The architect also wants to be the mayor, out of dumb luck he gets elected and a new week comes, the little childish teenagers come along and decide hey this is a nice imperial city, i wanna get 50 of my friends, take over and destroy it! So, that week the little children come and take over and try to destory the hall, guess what they cant! Just because ur the mayor doesnt mean you have to own the hall and have the power to destroy it, or does it? Does President Bush wake up in the morning and say you know what i dont like the white hosue anymore im just gonna destroy it!

This won't be able to work. Firstly, just placing 30 houses does not entitle you to a vote. The city must be big enough in the first place to encompass the new residents. If the town from the week before has enough residents to grow, they'll be the pre-existing residents included (if you build your city right, thta's what urban planning if about). Those 30 players aren't going to have a hope at all of influencing your city. And if you don't like them moving in, simply pick up the hall and go somewhere else.

I thought town halls were not destroyable until their intregity fails due to lack of maintaince? or if there are less than 5 ppl (like a PA)?

and in my opinion, the ONLY way Player cities should be in a GCW is if theres a faction base in town..makes sense alot - would you be a rebel town with an imperial base in its heart? NO! (no but attackable by rebel)would you be a rebel town without any bases within the city? NO! (no and not attackable whatsoever)

I think that the Town Hall should be destroyable, but only in a special case. And that case would be if everyone that was a citizen of the city, declared residence somewhere else. This would allow two things. First, if you are building a city and decided you didnt like Naboo, and you wanted to move to Tatooine, then you could have all of the citizens pick up/destroy their houses, and there would be no "citizens" of the town. Then, and only then, could the Mayor destroy the Town Hall, that way, you dont have town halls sitting everywhere with no citizens living in the town. Second, it would prevent what Woodyman is talking about. If there are residence in the town, then the town hall will exist, just like in the real world. If someone is willing to hold on and stay in the town, and take care of the taxes involved, etc., then it should still be a town, and therefore have a Town Hall.

I do highly agree with Woodyman though, I know a lot of people who will do the tactic he is describing to cause grief to a lot of thier enemies.

Galactic Civil War is fighting the enemy and destroying their bases, this would be griefing - using a game mechanic to to destoy another group of players work just because you dont like them, want to be a jerk, think its funny, want the land, etc.

Hit the post key a little to soon that time, one more point: the original posters example was made using factions as the reason for griefing, this could happen to nuetrals just as easy.

Something definately needs to be done about this.

Ive checked out the /grantzoningrights command on test and all it says it does is stop people from placing municipal buildings.

As things stand there is absolutely no way to stop griefing like this.

You cant even get militia for a week to /citywarn /cityban said griefers.

Any chance of our correspondent putting these concerns to the devs? Or is this an unstoppable juggernaut that will go forward no matter what? Again.

My question to you is: Is this really griefing, or is this a Galactic Civil War?

It's griefing. This can be done to neutral towns too. And what GCW?

Embrace the City.

PVP for the Artisan.

So you're a rebel trying to survive life in a city with an Imperial mayor? You can flee, or you can try to get your friends and neighbors to band together to throw him out....

Rebel PA? What happens when the Imperials start placeing homes in "Your" city and take over? do you cry? or do you try to retake the city.

Just think of the fun it will be to try and "Grief" others while enjoying the great cities. No one owns a city. A Mayor will have to work hard to stay in power and befriend everyone. Want to build a city with friends? cant afford a city hall from a greedy architect? Find a fledgling city and flood it with small houses and get yourself elected mayor. Existing citizens can welcome you, or move on leaving you the city.

Finally Image Designers, Dancers, Tailors, Doctors, Architects and Merchants can have PVP at their speed.
