oh that wasn't aimed at you... I'm just venting...
No offense meant....
I agree with the resignation part of mayordom, that makes sense.... it's the rest that just frustrates me. Sony has a good product on their hands. They just don't have a clue what to do with it.

... because the ability to "just resign" can cause all types of griefing, and a city with no mayor will likely just be destroyed (then what's the different than if the mayor destroyed it?)

got a quotable from GreenMarine:
As for registration...I don't think that auto registering them is the best idea. Requiring them to register helps eliminate dead beat mayors. Registering isn't that difficult. It really only takes 2 minutes and you have a two week window within which to do it. It also puts the mayor on even ground with competitors. The person who registers early has an advantage of longer exposure at the polls. The intent is for the system to allow democratic competitiveness. It never really achieved this. Certainly many incumbent mayors will face hardships as a result of the changes, but they had it easy. Competitors never had a chance.
p.s.: forgot to state my original questions... I asked if mayors can be auto-registered to run every election.

Update on Ocean View, Corellia....Wanderhome.
It's been awhile since I posted as I have been extremely busy trying to keep up with 2 characters.About a month ago I got rid of all taxes in our city. I know some might flame me because of that but our group of citizens (that live in ov) are very much hands on and I know that when it comes down to needing the money to keep the city going I can count on each and every single one of them to help out. They loved the fact that I put so much trust into them. We have been waiting on the purge that was supposed to happen for some houses to go poof but lol hasn't happened yet.
I am actually planning on moving our shuttleport to the main part of our town this weekend. I have been playing around with gardens and such lately...trying to get our city beautified.....I am planning on moving everything around this weekend so Sunday will be a long day for me as I will be doing this right before server reset. But in the long run I think it's only going to truly beautify the city.
We are contiuning to add citizens and once our shuttle is moved I will be advertizing for some people to add vendors to our city..(hopefully this will make us become a level 5 city again.) We have tried over and over to get it back but it just always seems to be out of our reach.
We truly are excited of the prospect of having a lot of vendors in the city...I changed our city to a medical center which has already begun to bring in people. I have thought of raising our shuttle fees about 100 credits to maybe help out with this....
I have begun to redecorate our city hall and will be doing the guild hall next...it's really beginning to take shape and if anyone wants to come check it out just let me know.
I will post some pictures when I am completely done with our city.

Come on people! No the changes didn't fix it all, but come on... I too had a lot of xp coming to me (4400) points that went poof yesterday. I know it's frustrating, but these changes are great and they're among the very things we asked for. In the long run, even for new guys they'll work just fine.
Perhaps I'm more forgiving b/c after much frustration my city is finally level 3! Now my city can't be ruined by squatters placing really close and turning my symmetrical beauty into a misplaced nightmare. And wow don't those gardens add to the maintenance, gheesh, but on Tatooine they're definitely a necessary evil if you don't want a bland city. With the other games coming out, i'm trying to recruit some experienced rebel / neutral players to join us. We've been together a while but I want to make sure we have what we need to keep growing.
Hopefully we can see more changes for the better on the way.

I just didnt like the fact that
A: they never clarified what the effect of the patch had on current elections I am sure most thought the 3 week vote would start on the next cycle...I know I did...My election came up merely hours after the patch went in and did not get voted in like it was planned...so I had to remove the city hall from my novice 0000 poli who only placed the hall cause we were moving from one planet to another and my master poli was finishing up business in the old city until 2 days before the election.
B: They never said people would lose out on the xp from the prior week agian going back to not clarifying the effects of the patch on current elections...
The Devs needed to put out more information. If people had time to prepare for this change the right way I dont think anyone here would be complaining as much.

New Zion, Talus (Naritus)
This week the city has went from 17 citizens to 22. so we are slowly moving up the ladder. The citizens have been responding well to the new voting system and many of the citizens have went and voted for em already. We are going to have a player garage as soon as it updates. Also my city is sponsering some player events on Naritus known as the New Zion Gaming Commission which will bring gambling to the server.

watch out with that. here in Pennsylvania they keep proposing to allow more gambling, but the legislature keeps shooting it down for fear of bringing more crime to the state.
better assemble a good Police force for your city.

Mos Vegas, Tatooine (Valcyn)
Currently we are at 177 citizens, largest city ever on Tatooine and the largest on the server.
We have lost 5 inactive residents this month and gained 7 so far.
Mos Vegas has recorded citizen growth for the last 8 months.
Mos Vegas was started 10 minutes after server reset when player cities could be dropped but had to be rebuilt in January when the previous mayor pulled up the city hall
The economyof Mos Vegas is strong. Vendor sales are very strong (wish I had sales tax lol)

Why is it that every server I have a character on has a city on Tatooine named Mos Vegas?

I have no idea.
Our guild started as Mos Vegas Alliance as soon as PA's started because it was announced that player cities would be out later for the sole purpose of naming our city Mos Vegas. So we claim the name lol

Not sure if any of them are still there, as i don't frequent Tatooine very often (Lok's my favorite sandbox).
I know that at least at some point, there was a Mos Vegas on Lowca, Naritus, and Farstar. They might not be there any more. maybe they named themselves after your town, or maybe they were going for a Los Vegas type thing, but since most Tat cities start with "Mos" they used Mos.
or maybe it's just some freak coincedence.
