To be realistic Pappi for our revamp to be any worse or equal to the merchant revamp it would have to consist of the following:
1: Cities will now be limited to 54 people, we realise that you need 55 people to get a shuttle port but our database can no longer allow 55 people in 1 area.
2: Houses in player cities will now recieve a 75% reduction in the amount of items they can hold. Houses outside player cities will not be effected.
3: Novice Politician will now cost 250 skill points with the rest of the trees being free after exp gain except for master politician box which will cost 5 skill point. NOI! we will not be adding any skills to that box during your revamp we have to wait for the GCW Version3.45278 to be released before we will have time for that.
4: Citizens who are Away From Keyboard for longer than 15 minutes will automatically be banned from the city for creating data lag and will be taxed there entier bank account which will simply vanish so as to help us reduce the amount of cash in the game to better the games economy.
5: When traveling through a player city all items held by players will be hit with a 2% damage to condition for every 5 minutes they are in the city boundary.
Ok now if thats our revamp than it will slightly compare to the silliness of the merchant revamp.
No realy, I dont mind the merchant revamp that much because I think it will break some monopolies and spread the wealth a little more as people specialize in one product rather than many but it reminds me a lot of the CH revamp which I still am a Master CH. When that happened we went from a great class to a fairly useless class overnight. This will do the same for Merchant. Instead of every second person being a CH now there are few, Instead of every second person having venders after patch 10 there will be very few Masters and a lot more specialized merchants who do it just for a little extra income rather than taking it as a serious profession.

You know, I was about to quote PreLaunch and say how funny that was. Then you posted and I realised how right you may be!
Personally, the Merchant Nerf is way to much of a cut at once. If the reasons for it are what they say, then we ought to see how those work out fist before we take a major step back with the player run economy.
As for our revamp. Hehe, just give me the Mayor of ... title and I'll be happy. In all seriousness though, we should be allowed an option to add our citizens to our friends list. Would make it a bit easier to say hey to some of the newer player that join the cities and make them feel appreciated.

it hit 65 pages and was then locked by CSRso a new thread has been started and is now at 8 pages, please post your support and constructive ideas (even if they are repetitive) on the merchant forums as these proposed changes will indeed have far reaching, negative repurcushions on the rest of the community and the overall game economy.

Deal, but I hold the right to mimic and/orsatire the developers responses, if any, in the revamp thread
