Thread: sales tax still broken

yes.

Well, I haven't checked too recently, but at one point the Sales Tax wasn't ALWAYS going to the merchant.
Note: We did these tests back in like March, so maybe theseemingly more common incarnation of this problem is slightlydifferentand is ALWAYS going to the merchant.
Anyways, I posted this awhile ago, when the Sales Tax bug didn't seem to be quite as widespread as it is now. But we tested this for several days, with tax levels changed around a bit to different values.
The tax would, randomly, either:
A) Go to the City Treasury (though this was by far the most rare occurrence).
B) Go to the Merchant who owned the vendor.
C) Disappear. Into thin air. Vanish. Neither the merchant nor the treasury received the tax.
I'll run some more tests on this tonight to see if this is still the case or if it consistently goes to the merchant. Who knows, maybe there's more than one variation on this problem.
Well ours was perfectly fine but the DAY publish 9 hit it started all going to the merchant. I tested it yesterday again and it still is going to the merchant

we would like to know what type of time frame to expect on any resolution so that we can decide if our current tax structure needs to be redesigned to cope with further loses.

The mayor asked the csr's if they would track the tax and reimburse the city the millions its owed, they said they could track it, but had no intentions of "giving the city the money it's due" csr quote.
I've had several conversations and out-of-game emails with a CSR who looked into this. I sent him detailed day-by-day logs of our treasury level. He said he could look at some sort of logs regarding the city funds, but that they were not detailed enough to allow for a reimbursement.
Basically, he told us "Yes, it looks like you're not getting all your taxes. But it seems you're getting some of them. And we don't know the EXACT number you are losing, so we cannot reimburse you."
Sucks, but kinda makes sense I guess. ![]()

This is closer to what we're seeing.
In our city, the sales tax is collected by the merchant always..... only to be removed into thin air several hours later. It may even take until server reset, but the sales tax is always removed non the less, thing is, it never goes to the treasury. Our merchants are now doing 20mil or more a week at a 5% sales tax. Before the patch, we would do enough to break even. Now that the city would be making money, it is bugged to where it doesn't recieve it.
And now of course the only recourse for us is to have us, the merchants pay for the city expenses. The mayor asked the csr's if they would track the tax and reimburse the city the millions its owed, they said they could track it, but had no intentions of "giving the city the money it's due" csr quote.
The is a black eye to those of us that live in player cities and use them as a source of community/roleplay/sales operation. I don't understand what they are thinking. I have profession specific bugs, all of them bother me, but cmon, can't they see this is game breaking. Hands down, this is by far the most important issue in the game.
Oh btw, CSR's, give petersburg her money.
