Thread: Sales Tax A DEV RESPONSE PLEASE?

Normally, I am a very easygoing player. I understand how complex the management of an MMORPG like this is. But it's been way too long.

The sales tax collected in my city does NOT in any way, shape or form go to the city. It merely goes to the player whose vendor sold the item.

I know many other mayors are having this same problem, and it is just as frustrating to them as it is for me. 745,000 credits a week to run my city, and it does not appear out of thin air. (I wish). Donating to the terminal is all well and good, but a city should at the very least have a viable way of sustaining itself.

New Haven is lucky. Many of it's citizens drop credits on the terminal on a regular basis. I would much rather have the city stand alone using taxes to pay the costs, and use donated credits to fund events and player help programs. Yet since the inception of player cities, we, as mayors are unable to do this. I havent even figured out a way as of yet to see if property tax is going into the city treasury correctly.

Come on Mr. Developer, I know you work hard to bring the SWG playerbase the best game you can, and beleive me, I am 99% satisfied with the game. I really do love it. But cant ya show some love for the politician? We devote the time, and skillpoints to enriching the player community for others. C'mon, you know you want to.... Show me the love eh?

I have to agree with this..

I Run the Sliceof Haven mall, on garath, corellia, in New Haven.. I also operate 5 vendors in the mall. I did a experiment with thrawn tonight. I sell ALL me adv composite helms , regardless of armor layers for 19170 cred. Our mayor has been attempting to get the city taxes to pay for the city mait. After the sales tax was implemented the prices on all my helms were automaticly changed to 19553 cred ea. I recorded all my creds, and checked after the sales. The sales tax implemented by the city is not going to the city. it is going into my bank.. So for the time bieng all the sales tax does is make the vendor owners that much richer with 0 benefit to the city.

I Agree with thrawn in asking the the dev team to take a look at this issue and please fix this issue so that the city can attempt to pay for itself with the taxes going to where they should be going..

I also am 99.9% satisifed with SWG and I look forward to future changes that will hopefully make SWG that much better..

thank you

Must agree 110%.

This should be fixed. Taxes (particularly Sales Tax) have been broken for too long.

I'm hoping this remains one of our Top 5 issues until it's fixed.

(Bumpity bump for my old UO namesake. )

Ditto... I hate having to have New Cardia rely principly on wealthy donors, though thus far finding them isn't a problem. Taxes... would be much better. I suppose this issue could be expanded to include all the taxes, and that long-postulated "ledger" option to see in detail the money the city is receiving and spending...

It's a known issue, pappi has said that how many times? There is nothing more we can really do beyond that. Complaining continuously and making threads like this doesn't make code magically appear, ready to be patched into the game. It'll get fixed when it gets fixed. Until then send out a citywide mail explaining the issue and ask all your merchants to donate roughly the amount of credits they made off of this bug to city hall or yourself in order to work around the bug and keep things running easily and smoothly.

hmm,,

i agree with you psychotic that yes this is a known issue.. I do believe that the 2 initial posters of this thread ( me bieng 1 of them) are very aware how the system works.. a brief history, I myself have been around online games since AOL NWN... You are also correct on a 2nd account, that yes it will get fixed when it gets fixed. The initial poster is the mayor of our town, and has been trying to find a current available way to get the city to pay for itself so that he does not have to ask for any more donations. as Im sure you would like the same thing since i see your signature says you are a mayor also.. So I can understand the frustration and reasoning for this reminder thread that it needs to be fixed..

In any case, as In any online gaming system there are alot of polite ways to report problems or do polite reminders. this thread is what we OLD TIMERS would call a polite reminder..

You see there still are quit a few of us here that attempt to strive to make swg a more enjoyable and issue free enviorment for everyone. We new havenites do not Troll the boards(eyes psychotics posts 3566) and complaine whine or cry, We only speak up when necissary.. We understand completly that rome was not built in 1 day..

So I hope that you now understand the reasoning for this thread and that it is not a complaining thread. But is a polite reminder thread with a few details.

In closing, I would how ever like to thank you for bumping this thread back up to the top so that others can read this and post their details of their city issues so that the dev teams will hopefully get better ideas of what areas to look at when they do eventually write their patches..

*Smiles*

Hey peeps,

Out of interest, is there anything bug fix like on the cards for politician in the pipeline and if so/not do we have any kind of timescale as to when anything will be changed ?

(threads and quotes appreciated)

I'm only wondering because since I started this profession nothing has actually been done to it, ironically I think the dev 'Green Marine' is also the dev which assigned to the other profession I have with has never had anything done to apart from a nerf, Ranger..

Or did I misunderstand..

Polite reminder or not this thread is pointless and honestly does little to nothing beyond drawing a place for scorn towards the developers. I know the difference between whining and bitching and what was posted, however it is still a complaint that is completely unneeded and unwarranted. We have been told by Pappi who was paraphrasing a developer that the issue is being looked at. Meaning that reminding them, complaining about it to them, and doing nothing to communicate with them all end up equaling the same thing. Only difference is that the 2 more vocal approaches tend to look bad and at a glance sum up to little more then verbose complaints. The developer working on the issue is reminded everyday when he goes into work and starts checking up on the issue. Pappi brings up things such as this as well as our pie in the sky wishes whenever she can or is ever needed. We have plenty of chatter up at the higher echelons in the development team to ensure that this will be fixed as soon as can be.

Also, thank you very much for speaking down to me in the air of self importance. I have been around the block of online gaming for a good deal of time myself, and have actually been a part of the pre-launch boards for this game about 2 years before release. I want to see this game become all it can be obviously since I still play the game a good deal. I am also an active poster as my count suggests, however does my volume of posts indicate I troll or that I stand up and defend different positions? Beat back trollers? Take part in fun and idiotic threads that little to no point to them? The fact that my post count is over3000 simply means Ihave posted over 3000 times and little more. If you were to go back and read a few thousand of them, especially more recent ones since that shows my always changing viewpoint towards the world, then perhaps you couldremark on how I post and how my opinion is biased or skewed towards things thanks to my view of this game overall. How does all of this relate to the meaning and purpose of this thread or the fact that it is needless? Or is it merely ad hominem attacks under the guise of arrogance and self imposed "elder" status in regards to the internet demanding the respect from those who are just as knowledgeable but may have come on the scene a bit later?

And you are welcome for bringing this useless thread back up to the top of the politician board while simultaneouslypushing one of much more importance or interest lower or possibly off the first page.

Ok. The reason for my original post was a reminder. Nothing more, nothing less. The development team of SWG has my total confidence. The end of your post here stating that this is a useless post kinda got under my skin. What makes this issue any more or less important than one you, or another of my fellow politicians think needs to be "bumped" and kept in view? We all have concerns and issues we'd like to have adressed. My original post was a reminder to the developer community that I, personally, would like to keep this issue in view.

You posted your thoughts. You've said what you wanted to say. You've done your part.

Pappi has taken it to the Devs. She's trying to get attention forPolitician issues. She'sdoing her part, and doing a damn fine job of it I might add.

What more is there to say? Bumping the thread does nothing but clutter the board.

It's a known issue. You've done your reminder. Let it go.
