I was reading how some disgruntled mayors are destroying cities rather than loose office (terrible)

And I was thinking of how much of a gamble it is to setup a city....

Then I thought what if the 'founding mayor' had a bust (image of them) in the City Hall with their name visbible on it upon examine (other structures too could say "BlahBlah shuttle port" opened by blah on the blah).

Subsequent mayors could appear on a "roll of honour" on a wall with their start and end dates...again visible by examine.....

Maybe even make the production of such busts/statues could be Image Designer outputs ?

The longest incumbant mayor could even be able to place a statue of themselves somewhere......

And what if somebody else comes along with better ideas for the city? If the current mayor is only doing a so-so job, then of course people are going to vote for a mayor who has big plans on how to make the city grow. It doesn't matter who paid for the city hall, if that person is a crappy mayor then they're going to lose the election. That's part of being a politician.

I have to agree. Hostile takeovers are one thing, but there's also such a thing as a legitimate vote-out. I know several politicians on Scylla who have paid for their own Halls, but then started to realize that not only is being a Mayor hard work, but its not all its cracked up to be, either. They wish to step down or just start fading out, and they get voted out of office. But since they did found the City, technically, it might be nice to be able to immortilize them for their beginning contribultions.

Just because you paid for a city hall doesn't give you the right to own that city forever. If your citizens don't think the incumbent is doing a good job then it should be their right to vote in a new mayor, they pay taxes. At least you will be known as the one who made the city and you can always keep running and trying to presuade them to vote you back in to office.

Yes, but you are using a "city lot" that belongs to everyone in the game. If you want to stay in power and have a healthy and growing city, be a good mayor.

WIth the lose of city /warn a mayor is a Dictator with no real power except to destroy the city, or to act as a outdoor landscaper...

There are a number of mayors I know who are already trying to escape thiswaste of skill pointsand many more will join them.

The politician class only allows for placing structues and removing them. Offering a city specilization is great, but how does that enhance the mayor's day to day playing of the game? "oh i just instituted experimentation....woo hoo...now what?"

Combat and crafting prof. are able to use more interactive options/commands as they level, the mayor however can only use 1 specilization, and/or moveparks and fountains around so many times before that gets boring...

Before Player cities went live, there were mayors who already played in the game, they just didnt have pretty parks to place, or 70+ skill points wasted.

Being the mayor is a burden and many of the egotists who proclaim,"oh its my city, I build it..blah..blah...blah" will become just as bored as the rest of those striken with the foul disease of "mayordom"

For those that have decided to be a 'politician' and may have placed a City Hall or other civic structure out of pocket but are not good enough to be able to manage personalities (essentially the job of anyone in politics), they may want to create an insurance policy through the withdraw credits from the treasury until they get their initial 'investment' back.

If people can't vote you out, they can always vote with their feet, leaving those sad 'cities' virtual ghost towns
