last week in politics

I think I caught a cold in austin no, it has nothing to do with the booze (and no, I don't drink plain vodka, and I was fairly sober all weekend), but the SOE office has their air conditioning turned waaaay up. even with all the OJ I stole from their fridge, I'm still sniffling and coughing

the summit was very informative as well as fun... I tried to squeeze in politician-related questions. I can't say that much about the combat balance besides that it will be a big change. we gave them some feedback at the summit, and they'll make things public in a few weeks after more discussion. I'm gonna close the sandbox apps soon, and have a good idea on who I'll be bringing. sales tax bug is still a priority on my "bug the devs" list. we won't have a "revamp" any time soon (so please post your ideas, but don't ask for a revamp), but we might get some minor stuff between now and JTL.

not much happened in the city, especially when I was gone for half of the week... how about you guys?

Dear Pappi:

Rauha, Naboo (Starsider)

This week is mostly prep time for our party on Sunday. We're planning on having a live band, a pull-tab raffle event, coordinated fireworks being set off all over town, and hopefully people will have fun for a couple of hours at least

Other than that, not much going on in town. Lost a member, gained a member, lost a member, gained a member. Same ole see-saw. Makes me wonder how we got Rank 5 in the first place weeks ago (and then lost it when one of the guilds in town crumbled). We're hovering around 78 citizens, so it seems that's where we'll be at unless a guild moves in.

On a more personal note, I've been busy with my latest movie. Hopefully it'll be out in time to make up some advertisements at the party to hand out (or sell via vendor). Last night's shoot was kinda a nightmare, but we pulled through and I got some great shots for incorporating into the flick.

New Kabala, Lok, Lowca

Well, no new residents in town this week. But, that was because I was more focussed on adding to the city. We now have a parking garage, a cantina, and a bank, along with 3 new trainers, more fountains, and more streetlights.

I have converted all of our streetlights in town to the red lights. most of the citizens seem to like them better. I am currently working on finishing up all of the decorating in the cantina. Upon the next city update (tues or wed night) i'll get the skill box that allows me to place gardens in town. I'll then begin to add gardens around the city.

I'm sure you all know how good this feels, but I just love seeing this message: You have entered New Kabala (Village).

i just love seeing that village title instead of outpost.

we have also established a resource warehouse and a post office in town.

the resource warehouse is just a public building where anyone who wishes, is added to the admin list. then we dump resources in there (organic and inorganic) and any crafters are free to split off whatever they want from it. hopefully we'll start to get a decent sized inventory there.

the post office wasn't actually my idea. i was travelling in Corellia, and i saw a building that said it was a post office. this intrigued me, as i love seeing creatively decorated themed buildings like this. well, it was a building with backpacks mounted on the wall, with each citizen's name on it. so we did the same. we took a small tatooine house, and placed backpacks for each of our citizens in the post office, and named them accordingly. now if i looted some weapon i think my BH friend might like, i just drop it in his PO box, and he can pick it up whenever he wishes. i hope that there won't be a theft issue down the road with this, as i realy like this idea.

this week i need to work on recruitment, since we've only got 20 citizens.

City X, Lok, Ahazi

City X, based from the X in Fedx held a closed door meeting with the only active elder, (me) and decided to to unvail a new name.

X was formally renamed to X-TaCity. The citizens.. leary at my willingness and eagerness to envoke change a riot broke out while half the people cheered and half watched in dismay as the medi center burned to the ground... Some developer decided the medi center should be a player structure and guess who's not on the admin list.. ME! Doing a quick look around, I discovered the cantina was hanging by a credit so I was on that list and make a handsome donation.

To quell the riots I enacted a state of emergency and instituted a stronghold grasp of the city and threatened to deploy the "National gaurd" (Imperial base). The riot was quelled and a new militia was decided to lead the city to greatness. We recruited a 5 star imperial recruiter whom has singlehandedly increased the population by 5. This mixed with the fact my long time friend has transmitted his account details I can now under his account add peopel to the guild at will.

Fear of the Medicenter neverbeing rebuilt were quelled when I ordered the construction of a new cetner. This was rejected by my chief of staff when I didn't have enough lots to place it. instead, my militia spokeman said we would deploy the national guard to deal withthe medicenter problems and increase the militia size to take advantage of the war measures act. (Stronghold defence bonus)

With the 4th tern of office I am now 2 3 2 2, and I'm looking forward to tonights political experiance lewt where I will be going into a factional city state by going 2 4 2 2 and being able to deploy the long awaited terminals...

Though there is a slight problem as I've decided I would like to make a run at the rebel theme... Being the mayor.. I'm obligated to retain my guild memebrship (imperial) yet cross faction lines for my own selfish endevour.. this week should be interesting. The citizens grow restless at thier mayor's John Kerry's approuch to faction. I'm still +300 Imp and -3000 Rebel so I don't think I'll be rebel anytime soon.. I should abandon my efforts and try some other time. though the Evi.. I mean Lovely Definantly Sexy crew has offered to sponcer me some faction points.

Being a Master Image designer I can't argue the point of wanting to place a ID tent i mmy city. this traveling to and from X-TaCity really hits the pocket book.

As for plans for X this comming week here is the agenda:

- Imperial base

- Faction Terminals

- More residents

- Planned guild Tresurery hunt to raise the war chest. I't costing over 425K to keep the city going, this Stronghold really increased costs.

- Mayor's house to be nearing completeion from the contracted renovations.

If your looking for a Imperial city on the move up.. consider X-TaCity Lok, Ahazi. Lots of memebers, lots of activity no-one needs to be loney again.

The right honorable Erann Elaske

X-TaCity Lok, Ahazi.

Send me a tell, If I'm not busy stat migrating or consoling a player's broken heart I'll give you a tour, though.. if you see one city your've pretty much seen them all.... The one city I would encourage people into seeing is New Banir on Rori Ahazi.. the place is a maze designed to catch imperials getting off the shuttle!! Quite the layout, I'd hate to be on maintenance patrol on that city as I'm sure not everyone lives in the great "rori" wall

Alya'Starn, Corellia (Starsider)

Lantyssa Sei'ryuu, Clan Head, citizen report

The city is maintaining a healthy population of roughly 70 people, about 70% being Bothan at last census. Most of the major buildings have been in place since Stray's time in office, however Mayor Nowi and our merchants have been instrumental in reorganizing the business district atop the mesa and city beautification.

The sales tax bug has hit us hard. We used to fund the city solely on taxes, but are now requiring donations to keep things running. As we are a research center with all the amenities, this is getting costly. The Mayor generously donated most of her personal wealth to the city.

In two election cycles, the Mayor should have a mastery of politics. In the mean time I am distracting her and we are enjoying brief excursions to clean our boarders of dangerous creatures.

I am personally looking forward to Laeren's video as it has my sweetheart in a starring role. (Maybe not the star to anyone else, but she will certainly be the brightest to me. ) Many of the other citizens are looking forward to it as well.

I'm glad we're not the only ones this happens to. Every time we gain one or two citizens, we losea different one a few days after... it's disheartening and I'm not sure how to get us back up to metropolis. Well, I have some ideas.

Looking forward to the movie.

Aventine, Naboo, Kettemoor continues to rot, mostly. We're down to rank 2 thanks to the downward spiral of city contraction. Most people who live there have quit or are taking a break, some with the intent to return after JTL. Because of a bug that doesn't allow speciallization changes unless you're over rank 3, even to remove a prior specialization (/bugged), we're bleeding money out of the treasury. (Rank 2 just can't support being a research center!) I've moved my personal stuff out of city hall and offered the job of mayor to anyone who wants it at this point. Thus far I've had no takers what so ever. I'd love to see Aventine rise from the ashes on some level, but I'm a little embittered by the entire affair. (See my previous posts on the fall of Aventine if you really care.) With the character purge coming in September we may well see the final nail put into the coffin, but, since I have no way of knowing who has and hasn't quit the game entirely vs. who's taking a break but remaining subscribed, until that point I'm not willing to tear down city hall and give up entirely. Ideally we'd collapse below level 2 so that another city could grow, but strangely enough I don't have any control over that either.

Sorry to sound so negative. I think the coming changes in the game are really going to make SWG a wonderful game, but I can't help but feel somewhat sad that the great endeavor that was Aventine has sunk so low. In particular that it fell so quickly and that I was as mayor at least theoretically responsible but completely unable to do anything to prevent it. I'll continue to wear my master poli badge with pride, and maybe a little chagrin and sadness mixed down deep. The best days for SWG are definitely still to come.

New Empyrean: Talus: Tempest

This week sees a new dawn come to New Empyrean. In the week since outgoing Mayor Fryn announced his resignation, the cuty has taken on enough citizens to qualify for Rank 2. Leticia Conason recently pulled ahead in the polls and it looks at this time as though she will defeat the incumbent.

Sensei Conason is known to be a disciplined and compassionate Martial Artist though rumours abound that she has had or continues to have dealings with underworld types. He regular insistance that she dreams of owning a YT-1300 Freighter rather than a respectable Imperial craft only fuel the rumors. However she has won her fellow citizens over with a vision for an Improved Job Market and relentless recruiting for the city. She was also willing to take the job, though it meant foregoing her dreams of hunting the Jedi into extinction.

After Friday's election results are released, the citizens of New Empyrean are invited to attend a groundbreaking ceremnoy for the town's first non-Guild related civic structure, a new bank. This modern automated financial wonder will be completed as soon as the Mayor is able to give final authorization for placemnet of the structure.

A week of major disappointments.

  1. Received emails that I will be losing 5 residents due to publish 10. This is those that have emailed me and I have heard enough grumbling that I expect to lose a few more.

  2. Dual citizenship bug is still around.

  3. Politicians get not experience conversion to force experience.

  4. Planetary map bug caused our city to disappear for a few days (back now). Spent the day submitting bug reports (lost count after 12) and assuring residents that we did exists. Vultures came out of the woodwork to recruit residents because they thought I destroyed the city hall.

  5. Trying to get the dual residents to come back to undeclared, but not one has responded back.

Does anyone remember when this game use to be fun?
