Thread: CSR Response to 'election every 24 hours' problem
I have been afflicted with the 'Election every 24 hours' bug. The symptoms are that you are stuck with the 'time until election error' indication, and every 24 hours you get a full weekly city cycle: Election results, election XPs, and a week's worth of maintenance.
I managed to get in touch with CSR, and here's what they say:
"CSR's can't correct the update error, but Development is working on it right now trying to fix it ASAP. CSR's at this time are refraining from actions or decisions on reimbursement until Dev's solution is enacted."
The advice I've been given is to 1) cut city expenses as much as possible; and 2) keep the treasury fed to prevent damage to civic structures.
If you're really stuck and your city is about to lose structures, you might have some luck contacting a CSR via chat, but no promises. I was unable to receive any financial assistance but, at least, I have enough cash-on-hand to keep my city intact. If you're truly desparate you might have better luck than I did.
The other thing I would do is to open a CSR ticket so that, when CSR is given instructions, you'll be at the front of the queue.
Please - no flames. I know this is pretty annoying... I stand to be out-of-pocket several million credits (at least I can afford it), but there's nothing to be gained by raving. And if you are hoping to get reimbursed for the extra maintenance, you might want to refrain from spending the windfall of XPs you're getting.

asap means within a few hours or closer to a few days? anyone? how difficult is it pick up stuff around the city and put them back are there any bugs associated with doing that?

Didn't need a CSR to figure that one out
But thanks for the update. I also talked to 2 CSRs via chat. Only response there was that the info was to be forwarded to the devs ... but I was not the only one with the problem.
Hope they get it fixed soon (before holidays) I have enough money for a couple more updates, but then it'll become critical ... will have to start massiv chirstmas charity citizen collection (CCCC)
"happy" holidays
Heh.. why can't stuff like this happen to me!?!?
We've been a metropolis for a little over a week.. and have more than enough money in the treasury to afford the elections... having all that xp would be nice! ![]()
I have posted another message but will just add to this one exactly what is daid.
Well yesterday I finally heard from a CSR ingame. They asked me the situation. I explained how I lost about 220k a day because of this. So it came to 660k. He said they know about this problem and are looking into it. He added the 660k to the treasury for me. He also said that if it continues to happen to just keep comment on the ticket I created about it and he will look into (i think just refund our credits). I just wanted to inform you all that they are aware of it, and since they need to contact every mayor on every server about it I think it will take them time. But they are working on it. Thank you for the SOE for stepping up in a tough bug to get around to on the holidays.
The 24h Update Bug seams fixed for us ... the city terminal no longer says "error" but gives a new time for the next update (in 5 days).
Let's hope this whole thing doesn't start again. At least I am Master Politician now (as probably many others are too) ... even though this doesn't provide anything new ![]()
I had two city updates intwo days last weekend, but things have quieted down since.
FWIW, I've reported this problem in the Correspondent Forum, but the devs are mostly on vacation for the holiday, so things are quiet in there.

This morning the problem mysteriously went away and I, too, have next election in 5 days or so. I didn't quite make master politician - 4-3-4-4 - but I'll make it on the next election.
