Thread: Flash !!! Mayors to be able to provide Well Lit Streets

hehe, yes, I agree with both of you, and we have complained about these issues incessantly for some time.

Also, streetlights don't give off anywhere near enough light. For all intents and purposes, all tehy do is light themselves up, and not the area around them. From far off the entire area should look MUCH brighter.
To be honest, I have issue with the general lack of light sources from any structure.
ALL buildings should have some external lights. The houses and the civic structures and all the gardens should have many more light sources around them.
This alleviates the need for large numbers of streetlamps since any row of houses will look like a street.
I say this because due to database restrictions it is unlikely they will increase the number of 'decorations' you can place.
Problem is item limit and database issues with the devs. That's the reason they put the caps on the number of cities allowed per planet.
Anyway.. the code already exists for this kind of thing with faction turrets at faction bases.. they don't take up lots if they are placed AT a faction base.. they are considered support elements there. They're tagged onto one of two corners on the low level base.
Have it work the same way as that... Could be lots of cool house customizing things this way... would also allow non city house folk to place them on their houses to provide light out in the boonies wherever they're living.
The real issue is though, that the game is so fricken dark.
This is a modern industrial society, well ahead of our technology levels, and they live in pitch blackness. Hardly any lights on the inside of a house and no lights on the outside. Even the city hall doesn't have lights.
I'm amazed they put lights on some of the harvestors.
Lights should be on every building. Factories, harvestors, houses, guild halls, everywhere. What is so hard about putting light sources into the game? Most games seem to have made this leap without issue, and graphical challenges.
If they added some more light levels to the game, cities might actually look like cities, and not dark little hovelswhere buildings huddle against the wilderness.

I agree.
Moreso, lamps disappear from view too soon, imho. You just KNOW there are lamps but they don't appear to you because you're just too far. Same as why you only see the nearest houses and your metropolis looks like a village.
Please make buildings persist in our view longer. I want to be able to see my city from up the mountain, as you can do with dev cities. As of now I see empty land because I'm too far away.
Streetlamps should be allowed to be placed on each persons porch that owns the building and countNOT as a city decoration that costs a STUPID amount of credits for a little light but instead as an item in that buildings item storage limit ![]()
Oh yes - agree! I had this cool layout of streetlights all over - with names and all - but then I realized they go into the 'decorations' pool - bummer ![]()
Hope they fix this soon ...

Lights on houses is an excellent idea. Short of that the cost of having street lights needs to be seriously reduced - paying around 2500cr per week for a light that does not render until I am practically under it is not sound spending. We use lights on the steps of houses to call attention to the presence of vendors within the structure. If these lights can not be seen more than 50m or so away it defeats the purpose.
