I know we're limited on what styles of housing we have available, but I also know that there are quite a few people out there that have come up with unique uses for buildings. It's all about creativity, so let's share some of those ideas!

And if you can think of things that might make them good suggestions for actual Player City buildings, add that, too!

I'll start off by sharing some of my city's "civic" structures:

Public Crafting Center: We have a public building in our merchant area that holds high-quality crafting stations of all types. This way citizens or visitors have access to private stations rather than just the public ones available in NPC cities. We don't use the crafting specializations, but a city building that provided a crafting bonus (placeable by a Master crafter) would be a nice bonus.

Militia Headquarters: We're a role-play city, so we set up a building to act as the headquarters for our militia. It acts as the Captain's office and stores armor and weaponry that can be made available to the militia as needed.

Memorial Museum: We're a very close community, so when we lose one of our members for whatever reasons it's always a sad time. We set up a museum containing a statue with the former members name on it along with some personal items from the player. It preserves some of the city's history and gives us the opportunity to remember those old friends who are no longer playing with us.

Hotel: We used a large generic house to create a hotel for visitors to stay in. There's a reception droid (just a droid chassis named "Front Desk Attendant") in the main landing. When you enter the main part of the house, the rooms are labeled with Electronics GP Modules renamed with the room number. We have a honeymoon suite and regular rooms. The main area features a bar (with alcohol on tap!) and a huge aquarium. It's set up for RP purposes mostly, but it's nice to be able to offer visitors a place to stay other than the steps of City Hall!

Resource Center: Our city has a person in charge of collecting resource donations for use by the citizens. All the resources collected get placed into the Resource Center and can be opened up to any citizen in need.

I did that too actually.

Now I know this isn't exactly unique, but how about a Mall? I would love to see this as an actual building.

In our city our regular cantina was getting very crowded!

So...we place a guild hall - had Swiper decorate it - and now we have a huge ballroom instead of a small cantina.

We also placed the BH terminal and general mission terminal on the roof of the cantina (guild hall).

We have a few jedi so this cantina (guild hall) is private. Jedi or overts can grab missions on top of the cantina in complete safety. There is nothing quite like hunting for bols to the sw and you find yourself laying on the ground with a BH or other overt attacking you while the mission choice screen is up. The BH terminal is only accessible to people with admittance to our cantina. This way a roaming BH can not just grab a jedi mission and start blasting.

There's a citizen of Kor Spera that's considering creating a Twi'lek Temple for RP purposes. We have quite a few twi'lek's in town so it could be a really good RP addition to the city. He's currently toying with the idea of converting a PC Med Center into it, so it will have a fairly unique design.

Howdy

About a year ago, I used a Naboo Guild Hall (since we are on Naboo) for what is called the Millionaires Club. It costs 100K to join. The hall is private to only members. I decorated itto look kind of like a casino inside. Also, I put it by the Shuttle Port so that we can sit in Chairs just inside the entranceand heckle people as they get off of the shuttle.

I've seen Casinos and such.

On Naritus in TIG's city I believe, they a beautiful 'library' set up. It's just sooo neat looking. Also their 'mall' has all their vendors dressed as Imperials. It looks really neat.

I know the Hotel has been in several cities, and I always have a 'guest' room in my house to offer to friends.

I had a House and later a City Hall decorated as a Bath House. Spas and steam rooms.

I also had a 'chapel' created for weddings. Along with my Bridal Shop.

And on Naritus there is the Church to the Holy Bantha. I hear there is a church to the Melon, but not sure where.

The thing I think that was the neatest was the observatory someone made. It was entered in the Garva Homeshow contest last year. Beautiful piece of work.

In the City structures sections we have a lot of these in our city already just in different forms using current style buildings.

On my Estate, we have several unique buildings.

The business house itself is probably one of the more unique malls/shops I've come across, and many of my customers tell me the same thing. It's not a mall, but houses 19 different vendors. It not a multi-merchant shop either, since all the vendors are ran by me and my husband's accounts. It's simply the House of Makarha, our business.

The guild hall for the guild, is Kyphi's residence and named the Estate manor house. Downstairs is a dungeon, upstairs is featured on one of Garva's Homeshows. The main floor I just cleaned up in preparation for finally finishing decorating it.

The cantina is the business office, or throne room, audience chamber... combination there of.

The new cantina on the Estate is the Entertainer Memorial, unique in itself. (See the entertainer forums for more details.)

The bio-lab is fun too, still a project in the works though. It was built before we were able to place a medical center. It has a triage center, and a morgue downstairs. I think the morgue is what really gets people when they take the tour of the Estate.

The forge is more of a droid display room, and guild crafting building, like the bio-lab is for food/chem.

Then there is the Imperial Officer's Retreat. Just what it sounds like. Has a lovely reception hall, a piano/concert room, a full kitchen, a full bar/game room complete with pool table, private bath and bed upstairs, barracks downstairs.

We also have a small treasure house, and an art gallery, several slave kennels that have been decorated, and many personal residents that have a unique look to them (they are definitely bachlor pads).

Other buildings I have plans for are an intelligence center (Kyphi is suppose to be a Master Spy after all), a gothic night club (or maybe a disco, we haven't quite decided yet). The city hall I finally have an idea for that I'm really getting excited about building. I've always wanted to do a spiderweb with spider (see the Halloween Homeshow). The asteroid loot drops gave me the final spark of creativity I needed to fully visual the project. A cave, with glowing thingys, spider webs, spiders, waterfalls, crystals... maybe a temple or altar in one of the rooms, and maybe the intel center in the other one. I also tested to see if you could drop a vendor if you were both merchant and politican... and you can. And I've been collecting treasure maps like they're going out of style. I was thinking of putting a vendor in my eerie cave of a city hall, with nothing but treasure maps on it, and any sales from the treasure maps go into the city hall funds. Or even a few quests npcs/vendors...

So many ideas, not enough hours in the day.

I've setup a public crafting centre that the city sponsors, and has the best equipment we can get in it, very similar to the crafting centre house idea.

We've got an armoury and ship part warehouse as well, for our guild.
