last week in politics

I'm gonna do this slightly early this time so I won't forget tomorrow

unfortunately, I haven't been able to log onto SWG at all the past week, but my boyfriend did make sure that New Unity is restored correctly after the TC rollback. vendors weren't rolled back correctly though, hopefully I'll have time to log on this week and check things out.

I realized that I never officially announced our sandbox testers (not that I'm required to, mind you), so give these folks a pat in the back:

  • Sweatyclimber
  • Laeren
  • PsychoticChipmunk
  • plzurpilot
  • Jaspor

remember they'll be under the NDA, so no questions if you haven't been chosen by any of the corrs, you can apply for beta here.

last, but not least... for those of you 18+ US citizens, remember to go vote! no rl politics in here though. just a friendly reminder

how's your city doing?

City -X- Lok, Ahazi

A week of hit and run raids by rebel insurgants has left us with calling in more assistance and we've deployed another base bringing our count to two bases with another 2 expected to be brough online this week. The new bases, one celebrating it's 1 week annivessary over the past weekend has outlived all expectations and miraculously saved from destruction a few nights ago as it was reset withonly 15 seconds left on the timer.. Yes all this pvp has kept everyone quite busy and has united imperials all over the planet to dig in and run thier missions from out city.

The population is hovering around 100 citizens now and I've decided to give up politics... Saddened I've asked to be outvoted in the election and remain after 1 weeks voting time the incumbant holding a victory of 75:20 on saturdays election. Advance pooling this week shows I still have the afk support of 88:12.

Since my decision to pull out of the guild and absolve my duties the treasury has sunk below 2 million as I havn't gathered donations last week.

In other news:

- banned a alliance memeber for wearing hawtpants within city limits after he made obscene gestures

- terraformed 3 rocks the rebels were using to dodge turret fire

- provided cover from terrorists on incap'd Imperial allience team memebrs savign thier miserable lives.

- Flipped the city to medical for enhanced medical buffs

The choice to leave the guild was long faught and very teeter-toter but like I always said.. if your not happy you need to get out.. I'm waiting for the alpha clearence to join the combat rebalence (under Image design) and I expect to imerse myself in that testing over the next several month and has solidified my choice to free up skillpoints to pursue my criminal life I mean repair... yeah repair technician job repairing broken terminals in various cities. If in doubt cut the blue wire.

This will be my last post here since I am no longer mayor. In our first try to get me voted out of office, we succeeded. Took alot of work but I lost with the new mayor Dharma getting 37 votes to my 35. Was a bit close there but I am glad that the citizens turned out and voted. Said to think that 35 residents never logged in for a week.

The Commune hasn't had much change. Mostly we are still discussion a direction to take such as becoming factional or staying neutral, concept of taxes versus donations, possibility of moving or maybe merging with another player city in the future. Currently, the crafters are slowly organizing an union to help each other more and to pool resources. So far they are still discussing it and so far it looks promising.

JTL is a mixed blessing. Some people have returned but for the most part they are in space so I rarely see them in the Commune.

Well, the time I was in office was interesting, enjoyable and frustrating and I hope that devs do something quickly for those of you still in office. Best wishes.

Update to this week election in -X- after some intense efforts to save our two bases the poll are now

85:16 for my self in the lead. I've sent another message our threatining to raise taxes through the roof if I'm still in office so we'll see if that gets them to vote... it works in our Condominum association..

Solace City, Corellia (Radiant)

Well last week we had a very shocking thing happen. A group of players left one of the guilds in towna nd we lost 6 citizens, they left just ebfore the cycle and coincendtly caused the city to drop below 55 citizens. 8-O

Well needless to say the city shrunk, and we ended up losing about 8 more that live on the outskirts of town due to the shrinkage. This was a nice wake up call I think though. Most of our inactive members are gone now, we are down to about 3 inactives in town. Good news there.

Our population is back up to aroudn 60 after a few new people came in and everyone that was outside limits moved their houses in.

The wake up call did something else, something I am almost afraid to talk about for fear of gynxing it. It has made everyone get out and vote... I am in the lead with about 32 votes. I am hopping it remains this way til the next election cycle and I take over leadership of the town.

I have a lot of ideas for town and a lot of stuff left unchanged for about a month and half needs to be fixed. (Trainers moving, people losing militia rights due to shrinkage, no one wanting to move housing b/c of militia lost etc)

This has been a good week for Solace, and once I have mayoralship, our city hall will be recieving a HUGE facelift from the Galaxies Premier decorater, my very own g/f Lwyla It'lo.

Update to -x- After threatening to Raise taxes the vote is still in my favour, 75:26. The Action seems to have rallies 10 more people...Yet the city seems to be in favor of raising taxes as I have acctually received good responses.

Hilltop, Naboo (tempest)

After several months of deadness, JTL has breathed a small breath of life into our quiet little city, with several old guild members returning to the fold, and foot traffic picking up once again things are looking quite nice. Had to raise taxes up to 10% unfortanetly to keep our trainers, income has been very scarce lately and everyone seems to be fine with the increase since I have been paying out of my own pocket for the last three weeks.

Outside of that no hugely new developments, and things continue to run smoothly.

Northstar City - Naboo (Eclipse)

NSC is still barely clinging to metropolis status, as I managed to talk a couple of people out of uprooting their houses and moving into their yachts. All else is pretty quiet, as everyone has taken off to space, though we've been seeing some long absent names showing up in guildchat and friends lists. Hopefully JtL will bring back some folks and keep them around.

Mid Week Update

Solace City, Corellia (Radiant)

Well, I took over mayoralship last night handidly. But I logged in to a missing shuttleport. We have the needed cap for it, but alas, we did for some time last week and as such I must wait til the next update to place a shuttle. Hopefully I can retain the citizens until that time. Then its off to recruit more.

Have lost the election for the 4th time due to the lack of players logging on to vote. Our mayor wants to leave and we have lost some to the general exodus and seen some come back due to JTL. I am trying to get elected, the Mayor keeps sending out warnings, but if they don't log in....they don't read them! And the Dev's have turned Politician into the redheaded child of unmarried parents.....Let a mayor resign....don't automatically allow votes from people who have not logged in over 90 days......Stop messing with Jedi and Starships and FIX THIS!!!

Would appreciate it if someone would take serious attention to the /resign thread so that encumbent mayors who wish to resign can and allow someone else to take over so a great city doesn't have to die becuase of a game quirk.

Even if you remove all your politician skills, the stupid city will still re-elect you.

Add a /resign command that works when another opponent is ont he ballot box but allows the current who doesn't want to do it anymore the chance to move on in the game with other skills and professions. No one wants to be trapped in a career.

Farpoint lost some old (inactive) residents. We have dropped from 99 to 88 within 5 days, but there are already new applications coming in. The City mall gets a new attraction: 9 Shipwright vendors will start business soon.

Farpoint Valley (the suburb city) has upgraded to Township after many weeks of waiting for a city to drop so we can overcome the city cap. So we are now registered and have a cloner. Also there has been a great Roleplay addition: The Ithorian Temple of Life, with a priest who is so overly religious, its quite funny to talk with him

We are forming bonds lately. First off we have formed a bond with Thalnax (Naboo), the largest Imperial City on the server, to benefit both communities. Farpoint with their imperial experience and Thalnax wiht our roleplay experience. We add up quite good, especially if one mentiones that the local Leaders of Trhalnax were mostly PvPers who started to find Roleplay and PVP mixed a nice thing.

Also Tenebrae on Corellia has offered a bond we will start working out soon, so that we can enhance each others gameplay in a new and fascinating way.

Plantes seem to be closer to each other now...even though everyone is in space.

end of week update on the elections...

After a week of greif.. The city couldn't get the votes to free me... Finnal tally

Me: 65 Challeneger: 38

I've already begun to scale my politian back.

I've hit my breaking point and I'l called in CSR assistance to trasfer the city.. but guess what my little ace in the hole won't come out... The csr keeps comming back to me "I'm sorry the number you dialed is not in service... " I see no option other than razing the city at this moment.. Some memebers have taken to serious griefing tacticts and I've had it to the point I have even considered and begunweighing the character deleteion method just to start a new and have peace to advoid just canceling the account.

Sacrifice the city and get my freedom to be forever haunted by the community... or Sacrifice 8 lots + a bank of full items and 3 million in credits.... to be anonymus again. hmm what will the next week be full of...

Pleaaassseee SOE The citizens don't seem to understand there is no resign ability.
