last week in politics

as weird as it is for me to say this, I have no city right now TC has been mothballed for the beta server (TC5), and I haven't received a city hall on TC5 yet. pervious mothballing weren't as bad since I still have my city there... I don't even have politician since they took out all the elite trainers and apparently took the poli one with them. I *have* requested (again) a city hall and some skills so I can set up a city on TC5 in the mean time, and hopefully I'll have something to report next week. I've never started a city before, so this should be interesting

as most of you know and I mentioned in some other thread, I've reported broken taxes, dual citizenship, and an exploit (details left out here intentionally) as our top 3 live bugs. I wanted to turn them in ASAP and figured noone would dispute that those are the bugs that should be fixed first. there were no promises of them being fixed, but I hope this is a good sign.

for those of you who haven't checked out TC5, please do! I know most of you aren't pure politicians, and the combat upgrade will affect everyone. there are blue frogs up with things like money, houses, weapons, and vehicles, but currently no skills are given since we're suppose to be testing out "the newbie experience". come help test all aspects of the game and provide feedback

so how are your cities this week?

edit: our city is "Sandbox", and I'm going to let the alpha folks in before opening it to public. we'll be sharing a guild with the other team hawtpants folks

In light of TC5's mission, can you investigate in detail the changes to the Med Center and Entertainment Center city specializations? What is their effect with the profession changes? Do they work? Will there be new specializations for Poli, post-CU?

I can't really find out until there's a politician trainer in TC5 I've asked for an official announcement about this (instead of testing and guessing), but as usual there hasn't been a reply.

p.s.: I finally have a city hall and PA hall deed, but no poli trainers are available atm O.o go figure. I'll be setting up the PA as soon as the city is up and running, any politicians will be welcome to join. what should the PA name be?

With running a city and a resource business, my testing time will be limited for sure. That being said, I'd be more than happy to drop a house and help out where I can. Perhaps the could autolevel you to master and remove the level limits on the specializations so that those could be tested ASAP. Then again, I don't think they really are to worried about how those will work.

As for a name for the PA... SNDBX - Sand Box. In honor of what never came to pass and in the idea that it will be like an old sand box from when we where kids and would get to play with other kids that we didn't see everytime we went there to play.

As for this week in Alacio Island...

Looking to get some more decorations placed and flesh out the city. It's now been over2 months since the citizenship diped below 100 members. I'm currently looking for an easy, painless way to get a firm grip on who's active, who's an alt and who's gone for good.

Serenity Valley, Tatooine - Intrepid

Three months ago our city survived the crisis of losing rank 4 and our shuttleport being marked invalid for one week. We recruited hard during that week and saved our City ranking with a few extra citizens to spare. Since then, we have continued to grow. We are just 3 citizens away from gaining rank 5 Metropolis.

The city has reached rank 5 twice before, but each time we lost a few citizens within that week and dropped back to rank 4, where we have held steady for most of our existence. (Founded Nov. 13, 2003) Due to our slow and careful growth this time, we believe once we do reach rank 5 again, we will be able to maintain it. At least until the character purge. We expect to, and look forward to losing about 20 ghost citizens and their structures at that time. Accounting for natural attrition rates, no knowledge of when the char purge will be done and past citizens who plan to return after the CU goes live, we hope to be able to recruit/regain enough new citizens to counteract for the losses we will have after the purge and still be able to retain Metropolis.

We attribute the recent success of our city's regrowth and revitalization to the City Council's and Citizens hard work and careful planning.

The deep pockets from our original founders and the City Council have kept our treasury very healthy despite so many city taxes not working. Plans for future infusions to the treasury are already prepared for when the time comes or taxes get fixed, whichever comes first.

We have a very active citizenship andwe are nota ghost town. Pretty much any time of the day or night, one can find several citizens and visitors in town, working, playing, restocking vendors, shopping, using the cantina and med center, mission terminals, hunting around the area, conducting business and having fun of all sorts. We actually, live, work and play... in our city. We try very hard to foster strong ties to the community and everyone who lives there.

To make it feel more like home, we have named our residential neighborhoods. Tatooine Sun Symbols are used as "Suburb" signs at the front of each neighborhood. Citizens enjoy being able to tell others they live in Smallville, or Two Suns Plaza, Moonrise Lane, Over the Hill, Pillars Point,or Wrong Side Trailer Court.

Our lavish spending on gardens, statues, lights, several museums, the city mall and our spacious Village square design for building placements and beautification, all attract visitors, customers and new citizens. Wide-open boulevards, large plaza neighborhoods, very fewhouses facing the backside of any another, "Suburb" style areas for residences, Business and City Services Plazas districts, and all civic structures within 150 meters of City Hall and the Shuttleport all contribute to the User Friendly aspect and "real community" feel of our city.

A comment we hear very often from visitors, prospective citizensand people who live in the city...

Nar Emiki, Corellia
Chilastra Server

I'm happy to hear things are going well for fellow mayors! Things in Nar Emiki are sailing along as usual. We are using the TC5 experience to get together there and try out the CU. On April 1st we played a prank on the citizens. We changed the name of the city to "Temple of Zola." We even changed the website temporarily and I made up a mock announcement. The citizens got a kick out of it, and that's all I wanted to accomplish. I had asked the citizens what they wanted most from their city experience. Those that answered wanted more player-run and role playing events. So I'm looking in to bringing more quality content of that nature to Nar Emiki.

I wish you all a fantastic week!

I'm glad they fixed that annoying City Management Terminal bug where option 2 would just dissappear for 2 minutes on every use.

Thanks for getting it fixed!

Well, after being gone from the game from 6 months and coming back only recently, I've done almost exactly what I was doing this time last year: starting a new roleplay city in the middle of nowhere on Lok.

City hall was placed 3 minutes after server reset, and now I've just got to make sure that everyone who said they were going to declare residency actually reads their mail and does so. I know I can count of eight people, and I'm *pretty* sure most of the remaniing four are going to get there act together. Otherwise, I'll just have to buy another city hall and do it again until they DO.

In the mentime, I've been running around and placing streetlamps and statues like nobody's business. I would place gardens too, but I went and deleted all of my politician skills before someone pointed out they no longer take skillpoints. (doh!)

Still, 2/2/2/1 is a reasonable level mayor for a new city.

In the meantime, from the mayor who brought you Crimson Sands, I give you... Mesa Peaks!

(I hope)

(I can't believe Pappi doesn't have a city!)

I'll try it again to confirm, but I accessed the Terminal like 3 times in a row with no radial menu option droppage. Maybe they re-broke it on TC-5...

I'll try it on both TC5 and Ahazi when I get home. I hope they fixed it and just didn't push the code onto TC5

Yep, I think that's the case.. It definitely seems fixed on live. I hope they're keeping track of the fixes going into live so they make sure they get merged into TC5... That would be messy if it didn't...
