It is impossible to beat an incumbant mayor. If people don't vote their votes should *not* becounted towards his whole number. ive had rigoris campaigning and i was getting votes but could never get close to number that the incumbent had. It needs changing. What if an incumbent mayor was AFK for 2months? How are you suppose to vote him out if no one cares to vote?

Why SHOULD you be able to vote him out if no one cares to vote?

Thats not what i meant. I mean that getting pepole to vote for you just isnt making it. The huge amount of votes that the incumbantget makes it impossible for people to run against him/her and actually win.

If the incumbent doesn't get the votes XP will be right out the window. As unbelievable as it is it's nearly impossible to get people to take the 5 minutes necessary to vote.

On the other hand, i definitely think there ought to be ways to get xp other than just votes.

The incumbent mayor shouldn't get xp for the people who don't vote for him.

The point was that it's hard enough to get xp for a politician and you want to make it even harder, nearly impossible. And anyway, says who they shouldn't get xp?

Your premise is that you can't beat the incumbent because people don't get out and vote. This implies that if they did actually get out and vote, it would be for you. That failure to get elected is not based on your own mayoral inadequacy but rather apathy or laziness on the part of the voter. Well what's good for the goose is good for the gander. Why shouldn't the incumbent get xp from those citizens? As you've already pointed out, it is not a failing on the mayor's part that people dont' vote for him. You've already stated that the problem is getting them to vote. So why should the politician be punished for that?

Saying that the mayor shouldn't get xp from people that don't bother to vote completely contradicts your original point.

Yeah, the default vote thing is absurd, hands down.

You don't look at it from a point o trying to oust a mayor who is never their.

I've heard of several mayors having this problem. Our city is full of active people, and I know if they had to vote weekly they wouldn't complain . . . but what seems to happen is that Mayors went out and filled up0 on ghost citizens and then went AWOL, and the legitimate citizens now can't get rid of the Mayor. I know one situation in which the Mayor has even quit the game and the people are trying to save the city and can't, because there's 50 ghost folks in town and only 25 or so real people. They can't overthrow the incumbant at all.

I wholeheartedly agree and think this should be an issue. I AM an incumbant mayor and think this is necessary. Would force weekly player interraction, and to some extent, curb cross server trading of votes.

It just feels like we set up a city and then were done with it after we grew to level 3. Which is too bad.

At least this would give me something to send out city emails about.

I think the way the system is set up, it does need a change, however the ideas proposed here to this point I don't agree with. The change I propose is as follows:

Every vote, imcumbant or not should count for XP to the mayor who wins the election. That way, since voting is the only way to gain xp the mayor will still get the needed xp to continue to move up in skill.

It is a very valid concern that a lot of people don't vote and just let their vote ride on whoever is current in the seat. This does need to be changed but let's face it, voting in game is like voting in life, every citizen can do it but most will not unless it will effect them personally in a major way. In game if a mayor raises taxes to high and hurts you, what do you do try to vote him out? No, you're still losing credits on property and sales.. so you pull up your house and leave the city. You solve your problem that way. Not saying everyone does this, but it does happen.

The changes that need to happen are the only votes that COUNT toward getting a mayor elected are the ones who do vote through the terminal. For instance, if you have 50 people in the city and only 3 vote, then the mayor electee who got 2 votes should win, but should get xp for all 50 citizens. This way, people will need to get out there and vote if they truly care about the city and who runs in. Then for those who don't care about voting, there vote goes which ever way and nothing changes for them. This will really heat up the challenges of the election since you WILL need to get votes because EACH vote counts.

Thats my possible solution anyways.

Rothin what i was saying is the actual people whose votes are the only ones taht caount. if people dont vote thier votes do not show up on the standings. so if you ahve 25 active votes only those votes would be tallied.

No way rothin. Up and coming politicians need skill too. And their votes should count towards XP for them.

I think the change that needs to be implemented is that there simply no default votes.. you have to cast your vote by hand each week, one way or the other.

But don't expect to see anything about this done any time soon. They're all focused on vehicles and all these features they've been putting in instead of balance and gameplay issues.
