Thread: What should master politician get?

Right now I think the lack of anything useful at master politician is terrible. This should be easy to fix and make us somewhat happy. Bajeezus, I would make this your top priority. Everyone sound off on what you think a master politician should get.

My opinion

1. Discount on maintenance fees. At least 10%, 20% would be nice.

2. Go back to the original design, allow master politicians to pick 2 specializations. The hybrid ones are terrible.

3. Some type of structure or monument. If they are voted out of office it disappears. Something so everyone knows the town is run by a master.

Currently I am a 4,3,2,3 politician. I plan on getting master then dropping most of it. Since you only need the skill to change something or drop something new, it will be easy enough to just get the skills back on an as needed basis. XP will not be an issue. Give me a reason to want to be a master politician.

Two reasons:

  1. The tag over your head

  2. In case you need it for FSCS

Making it desireable to achieve and then retain the politician skills has absolutely got to be the number one goal here. We do not want a profession that everyone leaves as soon as they get their badge. There should be enough gameplay in politician to make those skill point investments seem worthwhile.

I agree. I was being sarcastic of course. I hope this is possible.

Nope just shuttleports. Devs don't want PC cities to be totally worthless.

LOL - I can just see Coronet shrinking due to lack of player use!

1) good idea. city maint is very high.

2) yup

3) A visual marker of a master running the city would be nice.

4) The ability to place garages would be nice. Having it at master would make people master politician. Even if not at master, WE NEED GARAGES.

Some of the little things I think could be available.

Special Wearables/Craftables "Mayor's Robe of Honor", etc.

Decreased FP costs, ability to place Faction pets (multiples, not 1) in your city, and set them on Patrol. (You are now a Master Politician, in charge of your own town...don't you think The Alliance and the Empire would barter with you for a presence there?) For Neutrals, ability to place Corsec/FedDub type "cop" characters. Patrol Points, Patrol and Guard Commands only. I see Sludge Panthers and Grauls patrolling some cities..It's neat! But not very Star Wars'y. Storm Troopers, Rebel Soldiers, and Corsec Patrolmen would make a much better fit. And with Citywarn gone, Militia is useless, except to grant zoning rights.

Reduced costs on Insurance, Shuttle Fees, Drinks in NPC Cantinas, Bazaar Fees...anywhere the system collects credits, not a PC. This would reflect a "VIP or Professional Courtesy" discount for a notable sentient.

Mayor specific quests in Senate buildings around the Galaxy...Engage in Intrigue and Power Plays with Bel Garm Iblis! Sounds like fun! And another way for Orphaned mayors to earn XP. (whoops...This doesn't belong here! A Master Mayor has no need of Xp...still sounds neat though )

"Certifications" for Diplomatic Aide (NPC pet), Exotic Menagerie (Creature Pet...according to the Wildlife of Star Wars, "Wildlife care and acumen are signs of civic pride and status among the ambassadorial class), or Diplomacy Droid (Droid pet) special pets.

Like I said, just a few little perks off the top of my head.

P.S. Garages should be able to be placed by Master Artisan's, IMO, not mayors. More in line with the rest of the player structures.

I like the NPC placement idea and the reduced maintenance idea.

Intern idea is a MUST

How about the ability to get 'Imperial Contracts'? (ie the government, not a factional thing). Since these are cities after all, not private playgrounds, it's assumed they have to deal with government at some level. How about a master politician can send a representative to the local governor and lobby for things for the city? I don't know, like tax subsidies (matching funds up to x amount etc) or maybe there could be a list of like 20 nice little city improvements and you can get a random one of those from the governor, would make the cities more unique.

LMAO...

Next up for SWG... the Lawyer profession

Seriously though, why did they take out the 2 double specs at the master level? I think there should be more there, but at least we had something before, now it is just empty.
